If you go to Loews, don't expect luxury. Its a bit away from Hotel Del, 4-5 min drive on a highway, its a nice hotel, I had to walk abou 3-4 min to get to my room which was REALLY small for the money.
Stayed there for 10 days, should have stayed at Del.
nice... could have been better

I'll start by saying the service is EXCELLENT.
However, the room was a little on the shabby side. The view was nice (garden),and the room was large as was the bathroom. The furniture was falling apart in the room and the bathroom was not done well. Not anything too terrible, just not the quality I would expect from a Loews Hotel. The room service was quick and delicious. Also, the guy who brought the room service was very thoughtful. Our 6month old baby was sleeping and he moved very quietly around the room. We appreciated that.

I went to San Diego to go both to the Comic Convention and to relax at a resort-type hotel. The Loews Coronado Bay was just perfect. It wasn't far from the Coronado Bay Bridge, so we had easy access to downtown San Diego and to the Convention Center. Plus it was far enough away so that there weren't crowds of people everywhere.
The hotel itself is lovely. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. We did have to remind them to make up the room one day. There seems to have been some confusion because we hadn't left the room yet when Housekeeping knocked on the door in the morning.
The pool area is lovely and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Although there are lots of children staying at the hotel, the way the pools are set up, you don't have to be subjected to screaming children in order to relax by the pool.
The Spa is fantastic. Very relaxing, and not ridiculously expensive. I actually got my hair cut there, and LOVE it!
Pets are allowed at this hotel, and there were dogs around, but again, the way the hotel is set up you hardly notice them.
I found the bed too soft for me, but it was comfortable and the linens were lovely. We had the Premium rooms, which had a view of the bay. If you can, I would recommend getting those rooms. The pool view rooms seemed like it would be noisy and the garden views were okay, but the water is gorgeous to look at.
Loved this hotel, and would stay here again if I went back to San Diego.
we had a great time

We would highly recommend this hotel. We had some activities planned in Coronado so the location was wonderful. The hotel had free shuttles to and from the town.
We had one problem with breakfast not being served in a timely manner. The manager of the restaurant personally took our order and the staff continued to check on us to try to make things right.
We were impressed with the layout, it is a quiet location and the staff is very friendly.
Hint: if you like snacks, buy them in town as they are expensive at the hotel!
Good. Nearly great.

Nice scenery around the hotel. Lots of decent services. Friendly and prompt staff.... But the interior of the hotel hallways and rooms are just... I don't know - Boring?
The lobby is great, the grounds are nice, the hotel's bar and restaurant are fantastic. The spa and fitness center are top rate. But the hallways and rooms feel thin, cheap, uninteresting. The paint color, the carpet - all felt like we were in a much cheaper hotel. The bed's are fantastic however! Very comfortable.
The water rentals staff is great! We rented a tandem kayak and did a sunset gondola ride - But both were overpriced for an hour drift through what is basically a marina. And the 'antipasto' plate we got on the ride was sliced tomatoes with mozzarella, bologna and some olives. No bread or pita or cheese or crackers... And we provided our own wine.
But again - the staff was fantastic! Very friendly guys.
Lastly - the first room we were offered was silly. It faced another wing of rooms, no privacy and no view. But we were placed in a nearly perfectly ideal room, facing out to the water, very private - very quickly and without fuss. Why do hotels do that? Give you a crap room first, then when you politely request a better one, they just put you into it. Why must we do this dance hotel industry? Just give us the good room the first time and reduce the price of the lesser rooms (and reduce the wear and tear on your bell staff).
