Hotel was in Great location. Front desk staff was helpful & nice. Walked to train, station is at end of street, 1/2 a block, no hotel closer, there is a motel on corner. Walked to town for shopping and restaurants. Didn't need car for the 2 days we were there. Continental breakfast was great, Waffles w/lots of different fruits or plain, Biscuits w/gravy, and pastry, bread, cereal and more..kept up nicely too.

Great location, but...

Locaiton is unbeatable. 1 min walk to downtown in a real congested area. Parking on the north side of the buidlng is minmal, but plenty of parks of you go to the south side, but it can be a hike to the north side rooms. Problem is the place is a bit beat. It needs a lot of maintenance to get is near the price point. Its a bit pricey, but if you want to park and just walk or bike (this town is made for that) - you cant gripe. Mattresses kind of stunk, and a lot of the towels need to be retired. Franchisee has a superstar locaiton, pretty good staff, but needs to spend a bit on his property.

Not a good experience at all!

Room air conditioner blew debris all over room. Housekeeping didn't clean that up, nor did they replace tissue in bathroom, and clean coffee pot. Free drinks in bar would be a nice touch if only there were air conditioning present. Hotel is aging rapidly, and no one seems to care!

The room was fine but the air conditioner kept me awake almost all night. Very noisy. Couldn't open the window, no screen.

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Rio Grande. It was convenient to walk to downtown Durango and a great base to take extended drives to Silverton and Telluride. The hotel is well taken care of and the rooms are kept clean. A wonderful vacation.
