I loved this hotel. The view was amazing, the staff was very friendly and the room was very comfortable. The spa was wonderful and relaxing. I can't wait to go back.

While I didn''t have a room with a view, this is the only bay-side hotel in town. The Plaza Hotel is situated at the edge of the Bay and is a short walk to the west to Cannery Row and to the east to Fishermans Wharf and downtown. I was in town for a conference, and found the facilities impressive. The hotel bar, Schooners, has one of the best views in town with a deck looking out over the bay to the north. My room was nice (though I was ground level and the recreational bike path ran past my window) and the service was what you would expect. The location and views make this a place I would stay again.

The Monterey Plaza Hotel is elegant and comfortable. I''ve stayed there several times and found it to be conveniently located and well appointed. There is a nice restaurant with decent if not outstanding food and bar that overlooks the bay, with a deck for balmy nights. You can sip a drink and watch the waves crash against the rocky coastline for hours.

The hotel hosts many meetings and conferences, so there really isn''t that "resort" sort of feeling about the place. The hotel has two ocean front buildings and one smaller building on the other side of Cannery Row, all connected by a bridge. You, of course, have to pay more for an ocean front room. I found the ocean front rooms to be, well, a little loud. There are seagulls going at it early in the morning and I found that the little building across the street to be really quiet. Something to keep in mind if you are finicky about sleeping arrangements. All of the rooms are very clean and nicely furnished, with terrific bathrooms, thick terrycloth robes and a well stocked mini-bar.

The great location overlooking Monterey Bay makes this a wonderful place to stay. Imagine being so close to the sound of the surf, the scent of the ocean , the sight of boats coming and going and don't forget the views of the playful sea otters.
