We booked a harbor view... was given a harbor view technically with also view of the street and its noise, The disappointment was spending the extra money and being given a Murphy Bed (one that folds down from the wall) manager as not helpful..asked to move...asked for a feather topper which he said he would do but when we returned from an evening out., that was not done. If you want a good nights sleep do not stay in room 1339.....

Great room views of bay & sea otters; near walking path. But if you are looking for something refined and peaceful, go to the Ritz in Half Moon Bay. Monterey Plaza is very much a four-star hotel. The lobby piano is a "phantom" - a recording, not an actual musician, makes the sounds that play in the evening. And the nearby Cannery Row is tacky and filled with annoying salespeople who try to haul you into their restaurants.

Overall, I truly enjoyed my stay at the Monterey Plaza, however... I was flippantly disregarded by the waiters at the Duck Club on two visits--unacceptable.
