Nice place to stay

My family and I had a good experience with our stay here, when ever we go back in this town we would not think twice to stay here again, the continental breakfast was very good. The hotel lobby is really good and relaxing. I wish the rooms had a refrigerator, over all I would recomend this hotel to friends and family.

Very nice, quiet, and inviting.

If you've never been to Solvang, it's a nice little Danish themed town with friendly shops. lots to see, and wonderful Danish food. We've stayed at several places on the main drag, Mission ave, and they're very usually noisy, overpriced and generally unpleasant with loud people and screaming kids, paper thin walls, a/c units that can not be regulated. Not what I'd suggest to unwind. Then, Royal Scandinavian Inn, located right in town but off the main st so it's much quieter. You're greeted by very friendly staff and warm, inviting surroundings. Our room was clean, the central a/c was super quiet and kept our room comfy whilst giving us the option of setting the temp at any desired level. It was very quiet and good for sleeping with out being disturbed and that means a lot when traveling. There is a free continental breakfast available with pastries, juice, fruit, and cereal but if you want eggs, bacon, sausage, you'll want to head out to one of the many restaurants. One important item, the hotel was purchased by the Chumash tribe and they are planning a major renovation. They told me the rates will go way up upon completion. They didn't say when but soon. They gave us a tribal discount as a favour even though we're from a different tribe. They couldn't have been nicer. We'll be back for sure.

My family recently stayed here and had paid for an uprgraded room with a "pool or village view." Rather than a room with a balcony off the pool we were in a room overlooking the parking lot with only half a window! When asked, we were told this was a deluxe village view room. Pool was not heated, jacuzzi broken, contninental breakfast below average. :(

Standard but nice

My wife and I stayed at the RoyalScandinavian twice in the last 2years. The hotel is generally well kept, the staff always friendly.Being from Vegas, we've come to expect certain things from hotels. Though this hotel isn't much of a resort, it's a perfect base for exploring the area. The location in town is just about perfect and the price is right. Wine/beer tasting, shopping, and nice restaurants all within walking distance. A day walking around town and another driving around the area makes for a great weekend.A tip: Try lunch at Patrick's Side Street Cafe in nearby Los Olivos.

My co-worker just returned from this hotel and said it was nice. I saw in my AAA book, there were a couple of other comparable hotels- one is a 4 diamond- called Petersen Village. I visited Solvang many years ago and want to return now with my husband.
