Truly a NICE FIND!

My teen daughters and I just returned from our girls trip to NYC and found the Hotel Wolcott just what we needed.
It was convienent to Penn STATION... since we usually travel by train into the city... and since we usually walk EVERYWHERE in NYC we found the location to be excellent.
The staff was very professional, even through some renovations, and we were happily surprised when our room was ready for us to check in to at 12 noon!!!!
The beds and pilllows were comfy.. the bathroom was a touch small but you are only in the bathroom for a few minutes anyway.
The rooms and building were VERY clean.
Travelling with just myself and the girls, safety is important. I did feel very safe here.
We were able to quick grab one of their muffins... but no juices or water for the girls. I did not enjoy their brand of coffee. , fefore we started our day.
But put those little things aside and I will definitely stay here again.... great price, great room , great location.
OHH and the lockers they have available on site--HUGE.. great way to put your luggage safely away while you are running around town. (only 50 cents!)

The hotel is in an excellant location. The value is very good and the you can request the one of rooms that is of great value. There are only 4 or 5 of these value rooms in the entire hotel so you must contact the hotel directly for them to check availablity. The only draw back is that you have to share a bathroom with one other guest, however you do have a sink in your room. Very good location and the service. The hotel has a lot of history and exceptional decor. Be sure to vist Ayza the Cafe'/Wine bar across the street. Food and service is GREAT! Tell the owner that Jason from Michigan sent you. Make sure to walk outside at night and look directly up at the Empire State Building. Great photo shots at night and day! Enjoy New York City!

We couldn't believe how much we paid for the worst room in the city! It was so small we couldn't leave any of our luggage open at all. We had enough room to walk around the bed and that was all! We could change channels on the TV without a remote! It was unbelievable! We had to cross a stairwell to get to our room and the smells were awful. The staff was horrible too. They weren't friendly at all!
Fall Break Trip to NYC

I took my daughter and daughter in law to NYC for Fall Break and we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. A lot of space in the room and great location. We had 2 twin beds in the main bedroom and one twin bed just inside the door. Odd, but it worked. It is an older hotel and has a lot of charm, but you will miss the modern comforts most are use to. Beds were a bit hard but we were so tired each night we could sleep on a rock. Bathroom is small but clean. Elevators and halls were stuffy but the rooms were comfortable. It was about 10 blocks to Times Square but the taxi fare was afortable so some days we took a cab and some days we walked it. This is a good hotel for the money. I'd stay again and I'm sure I will.

This hotel is really a budget hotel, but every Manhattan hotel is at least a moderate price range by most of the world's standards. I stayed here several years ago, when a twin/twin room was $99 per night. Now, the same room is between $175-$200 per night. The hotel is old, clean and works if you aren't going to spend much time in the room. There is no room service or restaurant. It seemed to cater mostly to young, international travelers.
It is located at Fifth Ave/31st St and is right across from a Dunkin Donuts (which was nice for breakfast).
We had a room looking out over an alley, but the sheets were always clean and we were safe. I wouldn't book again at today's prices, though, unless they have really revamped the place.
