We had stayed at Canario by the Lagoon a few years back and really enjoyed our stay so my husband and I thought that it would be nice to stay closer to the beach and really enjoy our last night in Puerto Rico. Upon arrival to check in, we were informed that there was no desiganted parking area for the hotel, except on the opposite side of the street. There were no parking spaces avaialble because of all the taxi cabs. Then the desk clerk informed us that the manager had an arrangment with the Marriott and that we could park in there garage for $16.00 a day. We had no choice, so we parked at the Marriott. We get into our room (101) and the room itself could barely fit the bed and the few furniture items it had it in. The t.v. was on a rolling cart that looked like it was going to crack and break any second. We walked into the bathroom and you had to step over the toilet to get into the shower. The only good thing was the continental breakfast. The price of for this stay was unbelievably high at $110.00+. Next time my husband and I will pay a little more and stay at a nicer hotel.

This is a great find. With friendly service and a great location this hotel can fit anyones budget. It is a no frills room, with a comfy bed and a basic shower/bathroom its not for people looking for a 5 star hotel. BUT it is steps from the beach walking distance of great restaurants and nightlife. A short cab or bus from old san juan or isla verde. The desk people also set us up on some great tours. I was there for over a week and it was a GREAT experience. I would go back in a second.
You get what you pay for.

Cheap. Near beach. Has a feel like a puertorican house (tile floors, vented windows, ect.). May not be right for those who are accustomed to stateside rooms. Has hot water but it takes a while to come out. Poor desk service. Will not hold luggage.

This was the worst place I have ever stayed. Tiny rooms, twin beds and a shower that gave me the creeps. Room smelled like urine and was smaller than a dorm room. We didn't even have room to unpack. Not to mention it was a fight to get towels and washcloths. Don't stay here! An additional $30 on a nearby hotel is well worth your money. We saw roaches the morning we were leaving!
