Happy with Hotel

We asked for, and were given, a very nice room with a good view. The staff was friendly, reasonably helpful, but made a couple of mistakes, the worst of which was promising no problems getting a taxi for departure during the metro strike, only to find out that there was "Pas de taxi" at 6:00 a.m., on a cold, rainy Paris morning. My fiancee watched our luggage as I stood on a freezing street corner for almost an hour trying to hail a cab. The staff did send out a bellman to help on the opposite corner and between us we did manage to flag a cab, but it was a stressful start to a big travel day, and the desk clerk seemed content to play les incompetentes. The area is nice but not too much happening right around the hotel. I had booked the hotel partly because it was said to be "two blocks from the Louvre," but it is not (plan on at least a 10 mins. walk in ideal weather). Our room was very clean, very spaceous (for Paris), the cleaning staff efficient, courteous, and competent, the decor good to very good. I would stay here again in spring or summer, but might look for something in the Marais or St. Germain de Pres in colder months where more cafes, shopping, siteseeing, etc., is around the hotel. The Shell Station mini-market next to K&K should not be missed if you stay here. They bake their own baguettes, have excellent Italian smoked meats, excellent fruit, and good French table wines all at very reasonable prices. The hotel staff never complained about our dining in the room, or the mess we sometimes left. :-)

We enjoyed our stay. We were in walking distance of many museums. The Metro was less than 100yrds from the hotel and easy to traverse to other sites around Paris. I would love to stay there again

We checked in August 20th, didnt have any problems, our room was on the 1st floor. Not the best view in the world, but it faced a quiet little street and was immaculately clean. Went to Paris to propose to my girlfriend, now fiancee, so it was an important trip for me. The hotel was the perfect base for our trip, centrally located, metro station right outside the door, friendly and helpful English peaking staff, a room that felt like it cost more than it did. Listen to the other travelers helpful reviews and you can't go wrong, the breakfast is the only bad thing about the hotel-so don't eat it-just go to the Shell next door or anyplace else for that matter (you are in Paris afterall). Our first night we didn't feel up to hunting down a restaraunt out of our guidebook, so we asked for a recommendation at the front desk, he directed us to a great spot down the street, le petite chaise I think. This hotel combined with Rick Steve's Paris guidebook ensured that the only bad part of my vacation was having to leave. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Hotel for Paris Vacation

K+K Cayre was a great place to stay on the Paris vacation. The rooms were good and very clean and modern. (Rooms and bathroom are of course small by US standards but great for europe). Location was great (right across from the Rue Du Bac metro station). The Shell gas station right next door is a great place to buy water etc. (open until 10:30 PM). The staff is very friendly and polite and are good at gettting reservations at restuarants. We had a room on the 7th floor that had a spectacular view of the eiffel tower. Great to see the eiffel tower from the room when it was all lit up. There really was nothing negative about the place (no direct RRR/metro link from Charles De gaulle to hotel: cab from airport to hotel cost about * euro).

Loved it; would stay again; must visit Shell Gas Station

My sister and I loved this hotel. Everyone was friendly, spoke English, were very helpful with directions, recommending and booking tours and restaurants. We can't forget the Shell Gas Station next door. It is a must!!!! We would definitely stay her again.
