Lovely hotel, although the first day we felt very welcome, my husband and I began to feel a bit put of place, the other guests staying there were more often than not businessmen, particularly at this time, pilots. On day two the doorman did not even hold the door for us as he looked at us sheepishly as to say that we were not welcome. We were dressed the part of tourists and looked rightly so, I feel that we did not set the example they were trying to convey. This luxury four star hotel is nice enough for a short stay.

We prebooked our room using a discount site that allowed us to avoid the pricey $350 per night that they request. And I must say at that rate they are completely overpricing themselves. Upon walking into the hotel you are greeted by a very welcoming sitting area adjacent to the check in area. They have done an ice job of decorating the hotel to give it a rich and modern ambience. Unfortunately the hotel has a very musty smell to it throughout the hallways. Our room did not have that same smell though.

The bathroom within our suite was newly renovated and was EXCELLENT. It had a lot of polished marble and a super deep bath tub that was very impressive. The bed was average, it had a great bit of wear to it, but the linens seemed to be kept very fresh and clean. Everything was really within a great walking distance, the tube station was only a block away, basically right across the street and there is slew of bakeries on every corner very close. The Kensington area was very posh and a great place to stay! I would reccomend for the traveler but would advise against for the luxury hotel room connoisseur.

The Millennium Gloucester Hotel

The Millennium Gloucester Hotel is rated four stars. It is an excellent hotel for meetings and conventions, as they have a large convention center adjacent to the hotel.

Accommodations were ordinary. The room was large, with a king-size bed and a nice-size bathroom. An iron and ironing board were in the room, which was a nice convenience. The location is excellent--South Kensington. The Gloucester Road Tube Station is across the street, as is a small shopping mall with a grocery store, eateries, a pharmacy, etc. A KFC restaurant was about a half-block away. Harrod's is within walking distance, but it is a long walk, a little over a mile each way.

Millenium Gloucester Hotel

London offers so many hotel options that choosing is difficult. I have two criteria: reasonable price and close to the tube station. On this trip the Gloucester won hands down. We got a room rate of 85pds for a 4.5-star hotel across the street from the tube station. It doesn't get better than this. With tax and a phone call, my 4-day bill ran $600. In a city the size of London, this is better than good--it's great!!

Our room was large and well-appointed. We had a queen-size bed, a desk, two chairs, an armoire, good lighting, and a nice bathroom with a huge tub. Just having a large room in London is a luxury. Our TV had cable, so we could keep up on events at home, and we had a minibar, which we resisted the temptation to use.

We never ate in the hotel. There are two restaurants and a bar. They offer a buffet breakfast, but it was over $20 each. We went across the street to the patisserie three mornings, and one morning, we went to Starbucks, also across the street. There are several other restaurants in the neighborhood: a Garfunkels, a Tex-Mex, a pizzeria, a small convience store, and a pub. This was a great location. I would love to be able to return here, and I will if I can get this price again.

Very nice modern hotel right around the block from the Gloucester Road tube stop. The rooms were large and modern (which is unusual in London). The bar was lively (as the English football team was staying there when we were) and posh. For such a nice hotel, the cost was very reasonable. The Hotel is in a central area near many museums and parks. There are several good restaurants nearby such as Bar One and several decent pubs. For breakfast or lunch there is a good bakery nearby on Gloucester road. They have danish and bread in the morning, and mini-pizzas for lunch. The concierge has maps and was helpful finding things.
