Great Place!

Wow....we were so happy at the Catamaran! The beach was a short walk across the street, easy to get to! The hotel staff was lovely and helpful. The room was very large and allowed me to spread out a little. The hotel restaurant was a wonderful suprise as was the bar/lounge. The food was 5 star and the service was exceptional. We loved meeting the parrots in the courtyard who repeated everything we said!

I really liked this hotel. I am a very picky traveler. Must be super clean and must be relatively new and fresh with regards to furniture and fixtures. This hotel was a bit dated in the bath, but was still clean and nice.
The grounds are beautiful, tropical, cool and relaxing. It's like being in a rain forest.
I stayed on the 9th floor in the tower bayside. View was great.

This place is a nice place to stay, whether it's just adults in your party, or if you have kids. Lots to do. Pool is very nice; beach is great. This hotel has a private beach on Mission Bay, with chairs & umbrellas, boats you can rent. Volleyball nets on the beach.
We stayed here for the Super Bowl in 2003. It is apparent they have put alot of money in upgrading & maintaining this hotel & property They have 4 birds- parrots & others that are out every morning & are put up every evening. Cornell, the one parrot, talks and he is great fun to chat with. There is also a winding pond throughout the property with fish, ducks, and a beautiful black swan. The ducks are very friendly & tame, and are masters at begging for food. They don't come to you unless you offer them something!
The staff is very friendly and helpful, and always have smiles. I would say I had only one negative experience there, and it was at breakfast one morning, The food is wonderful, but our waiter was very put out when we sent something back to be recooked. I did address this with the manager, and he apologized.
Most rooms have mini kitchens, and you are within walking distance of Ralph's, a great grocery store. Also many good restaurants within walking distance; The Green Flash on the beach, and Nick's are 2 good ones. There is a Starbuck's close by, as well as a Long's drugstore.
Rooms are clean and well maintained. Nice flat screen tvs. Overall a very nice stay at a beautiful property.

The grounds are gorgeous! Lush, with lots of exotic birds, ducks, etc. The rooms are OK, which is fine since you aren't spending much time there, anyway. I had a bay view deluxe room, which was somewhat noisy at night because people would party on the bay beach. Someone also banged on my door one evening and ran away, which I don't think would happen at a better place. You never know, though. I'd stay there again, but I'd prefer somewhere else.
The Atoll restaurant is OK, but more expensive than many other places you can walk to that are just as good.
