We stayed for 3 nights in May and would go back again and again. The bus trips to town were so helpful we never had to move our car and mess w/parking downtown. Bus drivers and Hotel staff were all great!

The rooms are on the small size, the beds are good and comfy. The balcony that I paid extra for is so small that it is not worth the extra. The staff was friendly and helpful. I don't know how the word resort fits this place, but overall its a decent hotel. They charge for parking which they don't tell you untill you have cehcked in.

Typical resort area hotel

The Doubletree is over 4 miles from town. We walked into town the first day but never again! The free shuttle is the best thing going for this facility. It stops at 3 points in town dropping off and picking up passengers and was always on time. They charge a daily rate for parking your car- why? It's pure profit and totally rediculous. The restaurant on premises is not recommended. We ordered a simple breakfast one morning. After 20 minutes it had not been served and our waitress had disappeared. We had to walk out to catch the shuttle. Food and beverage rates were also quite high but this is a big resort area. Rooms are small and very poorly insulated. You hear every sound in adjoining rooms and down the hallways. This was very annoying. We had stayed in an Embassy Suites ( another Hilton property ) in Ft. Myers before visiting the Keys which was a first class facility & much cheaper than Doubletree.

Why stay 5 miles away from your destination?

An average hotel with no strong reason to hike back and forth from where you actually want to be. This hotel is approximately 5 miles away from Duval Street by car, and a shuttle bus is provided. I do not like conforming to anyone else's schedule when on vacation, and spending 30-60 minutes on a bus for a 10 minute ride into town is not my idea of a good time. The hotel itself is fine, the staff was ok, but all in all, there is not a compelling reason to return. I saw many hotels in the vicinity of Duval street, (close to Hemingway museum, etc), and will be using one of those on my next visit. This hotel is a solid 3, in my opinion, but if you consider many of us have travelled hundreds or thousands of miles to get to Key West, why not travel an extra few miles to a hotel that would actually meet your needs?

The hotel is very attractive. Has great shuttle services downtown and will drop you off in other locations as well if you ask. The drivers are very familiar with the area and will give you tips on what to see, where to eat, etc. They pick up every hour from 8am-11pm at 2 different locations. Saved us a lot of money that would have been used on taxis! Pool is very nice with an attendant that brings you water. Have pool towels. Excellent breakfast buffet. Would definitely stay there again.
