Nice to Call Home Base

We stayed at this hotel for the very first time right after the Memorial Holiday. The lines checking in were long; however, we only waited about a half an hour to get up to the desk. Also, because we were arriving just after a long holiday, the hotel was rushing to get all the rooms clean, so we decided to wait another two or so hours in order to get the exact room we wanted. Boy was it worth the wait!!! We stayed in one of their two bedroom/two bath suites with a strip view and it was fantastic! Not only was the view fantastic, but the room layout and ammenities were great and we had plenty of room and privacy for our entire party of four. There was no coffee pot in the room and initially that was a disappointment; however, we generally do not like the coffee the hotels provide and it gave us a great reason to get up and go have breakfast at whatever time we wanted. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. We did have problems with our room keys not working. We had four keys and each one needed to be reprogrammed at least once while we were there and we have never had this happen to this extent elsewhere. That is something I think all hotels need to fix! The restaurants in the hotel were nice. Our favorite was the House of Blues for every meal - great staff and great food. We also tried the Burger Bar, which was great; the Red White and Blue, pricey and okay; the buffet, which was pretty good. After a long walk up and down the strip it was very nice to know that we could call this hotel our home base!

Much needed vacation/ honeymoon!

I would recommend Mandalay Bay to everyone! We spent the week in Vegas for our honeymoon, and in all our touring, we looked forward to returning to the resort everyday! It was beautiful and clean the entire time. Great dining options as well. It's at the end of the strip, which was perfect because we didn't want to be right in the middle of everything. Pool area was gorgeous! Only problem we had the entire trip was our first night at check-in. We flew in late and by the time we got there they had already "sold out" the rooms (which I didn't understand, since we had reservations). They put us up at the Four Seasons for the night and we didn't mind at all (BEAUTIFUL room with an incredible view). Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will definetly stay there if/when we go again!

Not what we paid for.

To start, beautiful hotel, nice rooms, nice public areas. Staff was very friendly,HOWEVER, in spite of all the friendliness and cleanliness, the room we paid for was not given, desk clerk said none were available but we could PAY ADDITIONAL for a nicer room(NO compensation was offerred to us for not getting what WE paid for) We were charged for mini bar items we did not take and the resturants were way over priced and not good food. I am not a confrontational person so I took all with a smile and once again everyone was extremely friendly while they were taking my money while not giving me what I paid for. Don't stay here. Food is better and cheaper and hotels are just as nice all over the strip.Pool was out of chairs and we were there during the week,a slow week at that.Had a nice trip but felt taken by Mandalay.

Long lines to check in & waiting for elevators

We stood in line over 1 ½ hours just to check in. The lines were wrapped around like you would see at an amusement park ride. After getting up to the front, our room was not ready (this was about 1:45). They said we could take a smoking room, but we elected to wait. They took our cell # and said they would call when our room was ready (probably around 4:00). They said we could enjoy the pool and that they could store our luggage for us while we waited for our room. We said ok. Then we waited in another line at the Bell station for 45 minutes just to have them keep our luggage. We then went out to the pool area. It was FULL. There were over 600 chairs out there and every one was taken and every inch of concrete was even full. People were lying or sitting on the concrete and sand area on hotel towels. We changed our clothes (in very small restrooms) and wondered around for 30 minutes before we finally found a tiny inch of concrete we could rest on. At about 5:00, we had not gotten a call yet about our room being ready, so we called the front desk to check on it (after waiting on hold about 15 minutes) and our room had been ready for a while. They had never called....not sure why. Anyway, we finally made our way to the elevator area to ride up to our room. Guess what....more long lines for the elevators. We finally got up to our room and it was gorgeous.....it even had a TV in the restroom.
