LUXOR Las Vegas, NV

LUXOR was great. The buffet was incredible. The concierge was very helpful with printing the boarding pass. The room was great and so was the service. There were lot of shows to see. It seemed to have more people than the other hotels around it. Remember to check in first before booking any tours.

Bad start to an ok ending

When we checked in & went to the room, other guests were exiting our room. They said they were leaving because the lights didn't work. When we entered the room, we tried te bathroom lights and they were very, very dim, could not see. The beds were umade from the last guests and water bottles were sitting around empty. I called the front desk & they did upgrade us to another room, which was very nice. I don't feel the 1st room should have been given to us. Water and a paper were to be delivered to our room daily, our last full day of stay, we received no bottled water & no paper and our room wasn't cleaned till well after 3:00, we went back to rest before going back out in the evening. Needless to say, we left because the maid came in. All in all it was not a great stay at this hotel. I would not recommend it.

Luxor - Vegas trip

We are pretty happy with our recent stay at the Luxor. Definitely not a high-end hotel, but very suitable and clean and affordable. Service was nice, pool was nice (though had to scout for a chair), and the casino was nice. Most notable thing was that it was relatively dark in all common areas + hallways. Not much of a bother, but noticeable. Location is close to airport and other 'newer' hotels. Getting around was easy by cab and also by foot. We walked as far as Planet Hollywood, but didn't make it to the older strip. Nearby hotels Mandalay Bay and Excalibur are both easily accessed by connecting passageways (inside). We ate a great (and affordable) dinner at the mexican restaurant at the Luxor. Buffets were had at both the Excalibur ($18/for two btwn 2-6pm) and Mandalay Bay ($20-25?/each) and were both great, though the different prices were very relevant to the quality at each.

3 Star Service, 2 Star Room's

I had stayed at the Luxor about 7 years ago and had a very good time and enjoyed the accommodations, this time however it was a different story. The hotel overall had an old, smokey, dusty smell. The decor and furnishings are showing their age, peeling wall paper, tattered old carpeting and staining are just some of the things that I noticed. I stayed in a Spa Suite and it DID NOT match the picture from the web site at all. No additional seating like a sofa or chair, the "sitting" room had a small table and 2 chairs. The A/C mostly worked but ALL of the knobs were miss aligned so you could not really tell what setting the unit was on. Internet was a cable stuck behind the TV and with no desk I had to sit on the bed to use the internet, additionally it was $15.00 for 24 hours of access, a little high priced these days. And no wireless internet at all. The bed was old and needed to be replaced, you could feel the springs in the bed and there was a definite sag to the mattress, the one GOOD thing were the sheets, soft, cool and crisp with a fresh clean smell. Overall I will NOT stay at the Luxor again until the hotel does a major refresh of the rooms to bring them back up to the way they used to look and feel and gets rid of the old smokey smell.

Too much dark

Las Vegas is all about fantasy, but ("and", to those seeking fantasy) worth a visit. In the better hotels, e.g., the Bellagio, a most beautiful place, the casino blends in. At the Luxor, the casino overwhelms. Always dark, since inside a mock pyramid, only the outdoor pool area provides desired light and sun. When it's hot as it was during our three days mid-May -- temperatures reached over 100, setting a record for one of the days -- desired shaded areas cost extra. With smoking permitted in the casino, beginning the second day it overwhelmed those of us unused to a smoking environment. In short, there was no easy place to be outdoors simply to watch or read.
