Love the Luxor

I stayed in the East Tower of the Luxor. The service was excellent. I awoke to a paper every morning. The room was clean, large and comfortable. It was well appointed with interesting decorations. I highly recommend it.

Fantastic Vacation!

My fiance and I travelled to Las Vegas and stayed at the Luxor June 14 - 19, 2009. Our experience was totally fantastic! After reading all these nasty reviews, 1 week before travelling (I had booked the trip 3 months in advance) I was beginning to regret choosing Luxor. However, upon arrival, I was completely taken aback by suberb customer service. The front desk lady upgraded our room for the next night, on the 16th floor because my fiance wanted a nicer view and he wanted to be higher up in the pyramid. So the 1st night we stayed on the 4th floor, in a Spa Suite with a view of Mandalay Bay and the Hotel. Amazing view from the spa tub! The next 4 nights we moved to an even bigger Spa Suite on the 16th floor with amazing views of the Sphinx right at the entrance of the hotel, and views of the strip and airport. We could see planes taking off, it was beautiful! The new room had a fridge and 2 televisions, a much bigger sitting room and larger bathroom. It was just gorgeous. The only thing that went wrong was the airconditioner in the sitting room was blowing out warm air even on full blast and the coldest setting. The one in the bedroom was fine. So I went down to the manager's desk and asked if maintenance could please look at it. My fiance and I went out that night to go see the Bellagio fountains and Caesar's Palace and only got back after midnight, and our room was much colder - the airconditioner problem was fixed! I was very happy with my stay. We both had an amazing time in the Pyramid Spa Suite. I love the Luxor!

I'd stay at the Luxor again

I stayed at the Luxor when it first opened inside the pyramid. This time I ugraded to the west tower. The room was nice sized. The first room was supposed to be non smoking and smelled like an ashtray. They moved us immediately. My only issue with the room was no small fridge or mini bar. The Luxor is at the far end of strip but I enjoy walking so that was not an issue. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I would stay at the Luxor again.

Luxor did not meet my standards.

Over the phone prior to our arrival, I was told that we could check in around 3:00. When we arrived at the hotel, the clerk told us that we could leave our bags but come back at 11:00 to check in. When we came back around noon, we were told that we could not have the room that we ordered with a King-sized bed unless we wanted to come back at 3:00 and check in. Instead, we got two queen-sized beds. The clerk at the front desk charged me $5 per day as a "tax" in addition to the amount that I had already paid for the trip through the online travel website. She said that I was lucky that I didn't have to pay $10 per day because I had booked prior to the rate increase. The $5 per day included things that I didn't want: a pass to the gym and a daily newspaper. She then asked me for my credit card that must have at least $300 worth of room on it to be charged. She said that if I gave her my credit card, I would get $45 worth of "free" items such as $10 gaming chips and $10 at Starbucks. I refused. I asked for a room with a view which she said was impossible since the hotel was so far down on the strip. Our window faced a building and we had NO view. The room was subpar. We had to walk for five minutes every time we even wanted to get to the elevator. We hardly saw any other guests in the hotel. The carpets were old and wrinkled. The bathroom door was corroded and dirty. The pool was like being at an MTV Spring Break Beach party. I will never stay at the Luxor again.
