My wife and I stayed here from 6/18 to 6/23, 2009. My experience was wonderful at this a first class hotel. Every amenity was available. There was no refrigerator or coffee maker in the room but at a casino hotel they want you in the casino or having room service. Being father's day 6/21 my wife ordered room service which was served impeccably with wonderful preparation. We would definately stay at this hotel again in Las Vegas. It is noted that nearby is the bus stop that travels along the strip and there is a food court nearby and various stores available for necessacities and beer. Overall excellent.

I liked the art deco / golden age of Hollywood, theme of this hotel's decor. That ends the positive portion of this review.
Upon our arrival, the staff at the main desk advised us that they did not have the kind of room we had reserved, and prepaid for months earlier, available. They claimed that they consider reservations to be requests, and that they are not binding. Essentially they reserve the right to accept your money in advance for a suite, and then shove a cot in a closet, and keep your money. We were given an inferior room the first night. It took constant follow up the next day to get into the kind of room we had booked. They didn't fix their mistake until 3pm. They also did not give a refund, or any other kind of compensation for the first night in the inferior room.
When we did get our room, the sheets were stained, the toilet was broken and rocked back and forth when you sat on it, the toilet seat was cracked, and it was a smoking room, when we had booked a non-smoking room. Also the room wasn't made up after the first day. When I stopped back in the room around 3pm on the second day and found the room again wasn't made up, I had to seek out the maid, and ask her about it. She didn't speak english well, but I got the impression that she didn't think anyone was in that room.
The buffet was very poorly run. It takes over 20 minutes to get a table, and another 10-15 minutes for the drinks waiter to bring a glass of water. I'd prefer they just put in a drinks dispenser and let me get my own.

I got an unbelievable deal during the first week of January for a bungalow suite in June. The suite was larger than expected with a large two sink bathroom. I was disappointed however in that the suite has not been updated with some of the more recent Vegas renovations to hotel rooms like a soaking tub or flat screen TV. Even the Excalibur and Coast Casinos have flat screen TV's. I guess MGM is putting all of their money into the City Center project.
It takes a long time to walk anywhere you want to go in such a huge hotel and casino. If you are energized by being in crowds then the MGM is definitely the place for you. If you are looking for a more relaxing Vegas experience as I was, I would look elsewhere to stay. The TV only carried five stations for the last day and half I was there. The menu function did not work on the TV. When I called the front desk to notify them of the problem and to ask how I might be able to check-out I was not offered any explanation or apology from the staff person but rather told to bluntly to call back and check-out over the phone. The enormous pool area is a definite plus. The restaurants are pricey but really offer a great experience.
