MGM Grand

This is an awesome hotel. It's very big and has great service. It's at the end of the strip though. But it has nice bars and dance clubs inside. Great place to stay and not that expensive.

I stayed here a lot when I was younger. It's a family hotel without being overly family friendly. There is the element of wildlife, which is great for kids but also very interesting for adults.

This hotel has been on the strip and in Las Vegas for a long time but it does not feel old or run down at all like some other older hotels on the Strip.

This is a HUGE hotel. They are not kidding when they say Grand. It feels larger than the other hotels on the Strip. The location could be better. It's on the edge of the strip but the hotel is such an institution that everybody should at least go visit this hotel. I believe that they also have some pretty nice shows playing at the hotel. A while ago, I saw a few musicals that I really enjoyed there.

I would call it the MGM not so grand. It is very grand looking from the outside, but the inside not as much.

When you first step inside the inside lobby is very spacious and looks luxurious. The check-in staff were very friendly. Then came the long walk to our hotel room. We were located in the West Wing, which required a very long walk down the hall as the elevator is strangely placed at the end of the rooms (for this reason I wouldn't recommend the 1st floor). The room itself had very cool lighting, bathroom features, etc, although it was very small and had little seating. But being Vegas you don't spend much time in your room anyways. The most disappointing thing was the fact that the sheets were not clean - although once the front desk was contacted fresh sheets (but not also pillowcases as requested) were brought promptly to the room even though it was 1AM. Having to make the bed at 1AM is hardly my idea of fun though. We did not have a room with a good view, ours overlooked the green light that lights up the hotel at night.

The casino inside the hotel is similar to the other casinos I saw on the strip. They do have an area for non-smokers, although I rarely saw any of those tables open to play at. The sports betting part is a bit larger than some other hotels with comfy seating.

Resaurants inside the hotel ranged from Mcdonalds to Joel Robuchon.

There are a few stores inside the hotel, although not extensive shopping.

The fitness center and the business center are not free for hotel guests.

The Lion habitat is probably the coolest thing at the hotel. This is a no charge viewing of lions at various times throughout the day. The habitat is located on the main floor of the hotel, and anyone can come and see the lions for free. Trainers are with the lions and there is someone explaining about the age of the lions, where they live, etc.

This was not worth the $177 per night it cost. Next time we will stay at Excalibur again. If you are interested in staying here their website is www.mgmgrand.com. If you wait until just before you go you can get some good room rates on-line.

MGM Grand Hotel and Casino

We got a pretty good deal on rooms at the MGM Grand. One of the couples on the trip had been to Vegas a couple of times before and highly recommended it. What a massive place! It took me a day or two to even know which end of the hotel was which, but it didn't matter because they all had everything! Restaurants are scattered throughout so you don't have to hike far to eat. There are even two Starbucks! I had a wonderful salad at their 24-hour cafe. The pools were nice, but they squeeze as many chairs as they can onto the pool decks, so it can get pretty crowded. Our room was much bigger than I expected (in fact, maybe the biggest non-suite hotel room I've ever stayed in), which was a big concern since we were sleeping four per room. Overall, I was very pleased. A great deal!

The MGM hotel is always friendly and hospitable. They almost always honor your requests. We have always asked for a low floor (Mom is afraid of heights) and usually get the second or third floor. Clean and comfortable but not a lot of extras. Being on lower floors also doesn't give much of a view, usually a wall or air conditioner. It has easy access to anything you would want to get to. I love the monorail, it takes you directly to Harrahs and Toby Keiths bar and grill.

MGM is centrally located, easy access to the Strip and the monorail (main station). I have stayed here a few times, the rooms are OK, and service is good but not terrific. The Lion habitat is a cool way to spend some time. More than fair amount of games and slots with a lot of variety. A lot of walking though. They have a food court for quick meals or snacks and excellent showrooms for concerts. And some neat shops to browse.

The rooms are always clean and comfortable and the front desk can fix most problems. We liked it here but not a major WOW.
