We came to Las Vegas for just a day to show the kids the lights and out door shows on the strip. We wanted to stay in a cool Hotel, and settled on NY NY. We didn't tell them we were even going to Las Vegas or where we were going to stay. Once they saw the extreme size of the hotel, their eyes about popped out of their heads, and then came the sight of the huge roller coaster, which of course the oldest (11 years old) decided right away that her and I were going to do it.. no questions asked... yikes. The roller coaser is definitely worth it... they did a great job when making this ride, it is everything a roller coaster is suppose to be. The inside of the hotel main floor is pretty cool, it looks like downtown New York and is filled with food and coffee and shops... very cool. The best part of all, is we stayed on the 44th floor in one of their Penthouse suites... what a neat thing for all of us... had a great view of the city, for as far as the eyes can see, and a great room at a great price. We walked the strip (which is about 4 miles up one side and down the other and watched all the out door shows that they put on, the kids loved it very much.... however, it was very disappointing that so much filth is littered on the streets by the people that hand out those cards with nudity all over them... a little uncomfortable for parents and children... but the people, once they see you have kids with you, will back away and not invade your space. Would stay again at NY NY!!

5 Days at New York, New York

Overall our stay was nice at NY, NY. The hotel/casino was on the smaller side so that made it nice for navigating around. The location was wonderful, close to the monirail station and the tram to Mandalay Bay. The hotel was clean and nice, the room was comfortable and quiet. We did have an issue with housekeeping. We had to ask repeatedly for requests (extra pillows, soap, clean towel) things you'd think would be simple requests. They also forgot to clean our room one day and never came down at 6:00pm to clean like promised. No big deal but then we had to beg for clean towels and we had to re-make our bed before we went to sleep that night. Not cool.
We were very disappointed in the pool. VERY small and hardly any chairs for lounging. The time of year we visited (late April) the pool wasn't in full sun until 1:00pm. Pool help as non existant and the pool staff was a bunch of air headed teenagers. We paid extra our last day for a pair of reserved lounge chairs thinking we'd get better service and we didn't. The pool was heated too warm for the 90 degree weather. We toured pools at Mirage and MGM and would definately stay at one of those hotels next time.
Overall we would not stay at NY, NY again. We had a nice trip but this hotel lacked many of the luxury ammenities you find at other hotels. Instead you got cheeky cute lobby space with hot dog stands and poor customer service.
