Monte Carlo - Bad Pool Experience

  • June 7, 2009
  • Rated 3 of 5 by a traveler from Travelocity.com
We came to the Monte Carlo to relax by the pool and float in the lazy river. However, the hip-hop music boomed through the entire pool area. It was very loud. When I looked around the pool, a very small portion might have appreciated the music. When I complained to the pool manager about the volume and lack of music variety, it was basically "like it or lump it" - she didn't seem to care and said she couldn't do anything about it. I get the impression that whomever is doing demographic studies of guest profiles, he/she needs to pay more attention to who is staying in their hotel. For this reason I will not stay at the Monte Carlo again. Also, check in took way longer than it should have. Thank goodness for the ez checkout that can be done in the room.

IF YOU LIKE TONKA TRUCKS OUTSIDE YOUR HOTEL ROOM...

Yes, if you appreciate the loud roar and clatter of Tonka trunks and construction workers outside your room at 4 am sharp, make sure to stay here. However the staff was great but, i would rather have stayed at a motel 6 that was quiet.

Somewhat Disappointed 5/09

I want to start saying I think this is a beautiful hotel. However, there were some things that I didn't like about it. First, the pool is very small for the size of the hotel, very crowded, and played all rap music. Also, I didn't like was that you had to walk through the casino to get to the pool. On a positive note about the pool, I like the lazy river and we had a lot of fun in it. Second, there weren't a lot of places to eat at a reasonable price, other than fast food. The buffet was expensive and the food was not very good. The Brew Pub (which they offer a coupon for) was closed (for 3 years), and the other places are very pricey. The rooms were very nice and clean, but the drainage in the shower was poor and we had a few towels with holes in them. I think you need to think about why you are in Vegas, if you plan on staying primarily in this hotel and not venture out much, I don['t think this hotel will be for you... on the other hand if you want a nice, clean room and don't care about traveling outside of this hotel for food, this is a nice place to stay.

Fair price for good hotel

Overall, a good vacation experience. Hotel was beautiful and laid out in a manner that was "visitor friendly". Casino, pool, restaurants and staff - thumbs up. Two negatives (1) Miscommunication between housekeeping staff - we received no room cleaning on one of the four nights we stayed. (2) The advertisement of "strip view room" is very liberal to say the least. We paid for an upgrade to stay in a room that we thought would have a view of the famous Las Vegas strip only to find out that our "view" was for a very small portion of the southern end of the strip. Upon inquiry, I was told that our room was indeed one of the "strip view rooms". That view was certainly not worth the upcharge. All things considered, we will consider staying at the Monte Carlo on our next trip to Las Vegas.
