Traveling with Friends for Vegas fun

We stayed at the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas Wednesday June 10th through Saturday June 13th. There was a group of 8 of us staying in four rooms. Two rooms were on the 5th and 6th floors, and the other two rooms were on the 26th floor. The hotel was clean and tidy, and the staff was nice. However, the 27th floor was under construction and the two couples that paid $ extra a night to stay on the 26th floor were woken up at 6:30am all three days by hammering and banging from above. One of the couples complained, and was told that all their drinks and food at the pool for the remainder of their stay would be taken care of by the hotel. At check out on Saturday, they had a bill fro $!!! The clerk at the checkout desk said that nothing was written down for their stay in the computer, and the comprise was that they would pay $. This was unfortunate, because the rest of the stay for all 8 of us was great. I think that the accomidations that were made for our friends should have been handled much better. The hotel is very family friendly, so be prepared for many kids at the pool. There is not a whole lot of space to sun yourself, so be prepared to be very close to the people sitting next to you. Diablo's Cantina was great! Good food! Good drinks, and all 8 of us had an $11 margarite for free! The food court is also great! Had good luck at the Blackjack tables. Only one of the dealers was unfriendly. The wait staff was a little slow on bringing drinks around, but it's like that at any casino.

I would highly recomend the Monte Carlo to those looking for a central hotel on the strip at a great price. It wasn't the fanciest hotel but for a weekend getaway trip it was perfect. There is no "theme" to the hotel but it looks like a very nice hotel that you woud stay at in any other city. We had a great view of New York New York from our room. The pools were nice though I would recomend getting there before 9 or 10 as the chairs fill up quickly. There is a nice food court in the hotel that helped allow us to eat at a reasonable price. The buffet there is also quite good. Our trip was just a girls trip of 4 girls under 30 who were looking to see Las Vegas. The Monte Carlo helped make the trip fun and cheep.

A Little Disapointed

My wife and I spend at least a week in Las Vegas every year. At this time we will not be spending another stay in the Monte Carlo. After booking our trip, I read reviews concerning the noise from the 32nd floor construction. I called the Monte Carlo and was told we would be given a room away from the noise. After checking in and unpacking, we settled down for an afternoon nap, and were unable to sleep due to "jack-hammer" noises. We called down and were given a new room and a $75 food credit to use. After a few days we were told that we only had a $50 food credit, and that it had to be used in one sitting. We had already used what we thought was a small portion of our credit, so we were very unhappy to learn that (a)we had $50 instead of $75 and (b) that our first $20 charge made the rest null and void. Finally on our last day my wife and I went to cash in our players-club points, only to be told that "the system was down and that we should come back in 3 days when it was back up." This was upsetting because we started the conversation with "we are leaving today". We spoke with a manager who was very helpful and rectified our food comp problem. She is the only reason we may consider staying again in the future. In a nut-shell, the hotel was nice, the pool was fun, but we spent alot of time running around trying to fix problems with our stay.

Hotel was a little off the beated track for us. Did a lot of walking & bus riding to get to most places. The room card to open the door was a nightmare. We didn't get it to work right till the 3rd day. We met people in the elevator who were all complaining about the lock. The poolside chairs were also a problem. Two visits to the pool and never got a chair to sit on. The hotel is fine the staff very pleasant and the fact that there is a food court saved alot of money buying food on the strip or going to buffett's for breakfast or lunch

Arrive early or pay more for the basics

Paying up front when booking online gets you no guarantees at all. Non-smoking rooms which should be basic requirements for all hotel rooms are first come, first serve. Of course they are available at a higher floor in the same type room for an additional $ a day. (They should know you won't choose to sleep in a smoking room and switch tomorrow. If your a non smoker you'll likely not sleep at all.) If your paying up front and will lose at least 1 nights fees for a no-show, things like this should be guaranteed by the hotel I would think.
