Boy has this place slipped!

I used to stay at the Rio quite often and loved it. I haven't been to Vegas in about 5 years. The attitude of the front desk when I checked in was terrible. I was checking in at about 1:00pm in the afternoon and they informed me that they wouldn't have a room available for me until about 4:00pm. I needed to put some valuables in a safety deposit box so I could go out to the pool. The front desk sent me to the Casino bank. The casino bank sent me to a room for premier memebers. They couldn't help me because I wasn't a premier member. This was a waste of an hour. It was just one dissappointment after another the whole week. I was left just shaking my head numerous times. Next time I will stay somewhere on the strip.

Rio-Ouch!

I recently spent two nights at the Rio. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The room itself was a little musty and the rug was spotted here and there. The service was by far the best feature! Everyone was great from the front desk to room service. My only issue is the glass top table in front of the couch. The glass top is not secure. As I got up off the couch, I leaned up against the glass top and it shifted. The next thing I knew I had lost my balance and fell on the floor! OUCH! I called the front dest to complain and they immediately sent up a security officer to take a report. He was very understanding and was very clear on who I needed to contact. So if you have any balance issues, Stay Away From The Table! Would I stay again? I would have to say Yes.

The Rio is off the strip; however, they offer free shuttles to Harrahs, Paris and Ceasars every 30 minutes. It's not the best hotel in Vegas by any means, it is however clean, upbeat and worth checking out. They (Rio) have the only seafood buffett in Vegas. It's my second time staying there in the past 4 years. Compared to other hotels/casinos they've done minimal upgrades.

Our Stay at the RIO

We spent 3 nights at the RIO and we were very impressed with size and ammenities of our room, for the price. We had a great view from the 27th floor. The room was 650 sq. feet, modern and clean. Came with a refrigerator at no additional charge. Check in was quick and easy. Checkout line was slower, with only one clerk working the line. We were disappointed that they would not give us credit for our room charges, since we paid through an online agency a month prior to signing up. No one advised us there are two different cards: Gaming and non-gaming. We did not gamble or eat at the hotel, since we had family staying on the strip, spent most of our time with them. While we enjoyed our stay, we found the RIO to be a very loud hotel, compared with some of the more upscale ones on the strip. We could hear the thumping of the music on the 27th floor, and others told us they could even hear it on the 37th floor. Public parking was easy to access. Also, Free shuttles to Harrah's and Caesar's on the strip every 1/2 hr.

Pleasantly Surprised

We belong to a time share, but want the "Vegas Hotel" experience, so each time we visit Las Vegas, we stay one night in a hotel. and the Rio seemed interesting, because it is off the strip, it would not be a hotel/casino we'd otherwise not visit. I read some of the reviews of the hotel here beforehand, and read some nice reviews and some bad reviews. We went in expecting anything. From the moment we checked in, we were made to feel special. The rooms (we were in the Masquerade Tower) really are larger than your normal hotel room, with a great couch area, and the price was amazing! We had a friend traveling with us, and asked for a one bed room and two bed room as close to each other as possible, and they gave us connecting rooms! We were on the 32nd floor, with a northern view, so our huge windows caught part of the mountains as well as the strip. The only downside was an outdoor concert by the pool, whose noise came in through the windows, but the concert was over by 11pm. If any hotel was able to get us NOT to keep on experiencing other hotels, this would be it.
