Generally Good w/ Some Issues

Booked months ago to stay 3 nites over Thanksgiving 2008. Although we had twice confirmed our request for a non-smoking room, and we checked in before 7:00 p.m., no regular non-smoking rooms were available when we arrived. To accomodate our request, we had to take a handicap room. When we got to the room, it was dirty and unmadeup with towels on the floor, used food containers, unmade bed, etc. After calling the front desk and being placed on hold for approx. 20 minutes, we were finally able to speak with a manager who was somewhat apologetic about the lack of non-smoking rooms. He immediately offered a replacement non-smoking handicap room on the top floor. The replacement room was very nice and resolved the issue. As in the past, we found the restaurants to be exceptional (All American Grill, Buzios, Sports Deli) and the selection of liquor available in the bars/restaurants (i.e. single batch bourbons & single malt scotches) to be better than most. The casino is large with a good variety of machines, although there were only 3 blackjack machines and the minimum table stakes (i.e. $10 and $25) were high. The $22 fee per person to use the gym facilities was over the top for average equipment, but included was a better than average locker room (with sauna, jacuzzi, lockers, robes, etc.). In general, the hotel is a good value and we would consider staying there again.

Rooms are VERY LARGE! and nice. Food is great. Only complaint is the casino itself is very small in relation to the hotel. There are plenty of table games but few slot machines. Workers at the hotel were very polite. One thing I did notice is that anyone could take the elevators up to the rooms. I know at most casinos there you have to show your room key to ride the elevator but not here. Makes you wonder about security. There was a baby in a stroller on the walkway at 2am while mom and dad gambled. WHERE WAS SECURITY?
Don't Bother to Stay at the Rio

I was a return gues of the Rio. Upon check in, the assigned hotel room wasn't clean. My wife and I were told that within 15 minutes a bellman would be up to give us a different room. After 25 minutes I called the front desk and again was told someone would be up in 15 minutes. After 50 minutes, I went to the front desk to get the new room key. It took over an hour to fix the Rio's error and we didn't receive any compensation for the inconvenience. With so many other hotels in Vegas, I won't be staying at the Rio again.
Expensive and no extras, not even security...

Just got back from 3 days at the Rio and wow was that disappointing.
They call the room a suite, I call it just a big room. Not worth the extra money. Security is obviiously not a priority to the staff at the Rio. The safe didn't work, no deadbolt locks, and anyone is allowed on the elevators, no one checks to see if you are supposed to be there or not!
My room had no coffee pot, I heard from others that some did and some did not. My room only had dirty glasses.
Table games were $10 a hand for one day, remainder of the time they were $15 and up. Mostly up. Casino is very crowded and loud.
Will only return if someone else is paying for it!
Nickeled and Dimed plus lousy service

At 11 PM arrival, with only three parties ahead of us, it was 45 minutes before our reserved check-in was completed. There is a fee for everything - $11 to receive a four page fax that they refused to deliver to my room (when they finally located it the next day). It twas supposed to be at the front desk after the business center closed, but they make you wait on the same line as those checking in, so it was another half hour before I found out that they couldn't locate it. Five dollars to get your boarding pass for the flight home. A fee for internet service that you can only use in your room, and slow WiiFi. This is not what you think of as a "suite", it is merely an over sized room with no coffee maker, and no microwave. Our room safe was locked (rather than open) when we arrived (but security came promptly and opened it). The toilet had flushing problems, the sink ran out of hot water early morning, and the sink drain in one room caused loud gurgling in the WC. The shower drained so poorly that you ended up standing in deep water.
