We were in Vegas on a short trip. I was not really sure about staying off of the strip but I figured what the heck. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was just awesome. Large, clean and nicely furnished. We didn't wait very long to check in and the gentleman checking us in was extremely professional. Booking shows through the Rio was a breeze. They were very helpful in letting us know what was showing not only at the Rio but at other casinos. Pool was closed for the season I assume so I have no comments about and we didn't go to Vegas for the pools. Shuttle wait was not long. Overall I was pleased for the Rio. I would like to see a restaurant with full menu open all night at the Rio. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The Rio Hotel and Casino (a locals opinion)

As a local of Las Vegas, I've either stayed or played at the Rio Hotel and Casino throughout the last 15 years. Just seconds from the Las Vegas strip, and 40 minutes from Red Rock Canyon...the Rio is just minutes away from all that is Vegas. McCarren Internation Airport (Las Vegas' main Airport) is only 15-minutes away as well. Close enough for those who play till the very end. The Valet was a little overworked when I arrived (this last time), but I'm sure this had to do with the fact that I arrived in Las Vegas on a rainy day. They do however provide overhead parking, but like most...I wanted the convienence of Valet. The rooms at the Rio are in fact "Suites." Whether you're there for business, pleasure, or a little of both...the Rio's "Suites" are comparable to those (other) hotels just minutes away. They give you a bigger BANG for your BUCK. There are dozens of places to eat inside the Casino. I strongly recommend their Bar & Grill. I had a $10 burger that was to die for. (Ummm). I can't recal the name of the establishment, but if you have a chance to go...buy the burger. Regardless of where you stay, enjoy! "What happens in Vegas, doesn't always stay in Vegas!"

EXCELLENT!!!

I had a wonderful experience at the Rio. The room was large and clean. The staff at the Rio were very gracious and helpful. I have stayed at 4 other large Vegas hotel/casinos, and this has been my best experience yet. I must recommend Rub BBQ, I am originally from the South and love good BBQ, and this was GREAT BBQ. The World Buffet and the Seafood Buffet were both spectacular, however the World Buffet is too spread out in the room. It is a odd long walk from one end of the buffet to the other. The servers are gorgeous and very attentive. The free "Masquerade in the Sky" show was wonderful, very erotic, yet tasteful. It was one of my best ever Vegas experiences, and they even offer a free shuttle to Paris Hotel/Casino. If you are torn between Rio and another hotel, I highly recommend giving Rio a try. I know I will be staying there again.

Not really a 4-star Hotel

Rio is a dated, nice hotel that is in need of renovation. Everything from the Tv, bed and carpetare worn.
