Stayed and it was not in the best shape, but the workers were very nice, there was one particular girl there that caught my eye, she was there on two evening shifts. Any time you called down, or stopped down she did her best to accomodate us.
Sept 2008-- No frills motel

Sept 2008: We stayed 1 week at the Days Inn in Auburn. This motel is in a nice location with many historic homes nearby and a nice park across the street. We walked to many nice buildings in the area which seemed pretty safe. Auburn is a good location for the exploring the FInger Lakes region. This is a no frills motel. The first problem we encountered is the front desk was not sure they could honor the full stay we had booked months before. We called the online trave agency's Help desk and they called the Days Inn and the problem was fixed instantly. We notified the motel we would arrive late the first night, which we did. We ended up with a smoking room when we had a Non Smoking room booked. The hotel was full so we could not move to another room. The hotel clerk gave us an air freshner and told us to see the manager the next day. We saw the manager the next day and he was already aware of the problem and took us to a non smoking room and asked us if this was OK. It was and we spent the rest of the week in this room. All the hallways smelled like old smoke, but our room did not. The morning "lite" breakfast was basic and I noticed some days there was not much "food" put out. One day the trash had not been emptied from the previous day in the beakfast area. For a short stay this motel is OK because of the low price, but for a longer stay we are spending more money next time and getting a nicer motel in Auburn.
Run down

The place is pretty run down. The heater was off so the room was about 40 degrees when I checked in. The hallways weren?t heated and reeked of stale smoke. The room was dirty, the sheets were too small for the bed, the blankets old and worn out. The bathtub had not been cleaned. Peeling paint/caulk in the bathroom, the towel rack was held up with a block of wood. For breakfast there was a plastic container of cereal and a loaf of bread for toast. Won't be staying there again.
Non-smoking?

I reserved a non-smoking room. I am not a picky traveler which is why I gave a 2 rating instead of 1. My perspective is that if the room is clean and the bed comfortable I'm a happy camper. When I reached the 2nd floor hallway I was almost knocked over by the stench of stale cigarette smoke in the hall. The room was tidy but not clean. I did not complain because I was only there to get a few hours of sleep each of my 2-night stay so I didn't spend much time there. The attendant at the front desk was very nice though.

"The rooms were noisy, the mattress was noisy, and the water pipes whistled all night. Not a good place to sleep. The staff was very nice, and it was a conveniet location."
