Stayed May 23, 2009. Value for money overpriced. Group from Augusta, GA visiting Beaufort, SC for the Gullah Festival and stayed 1 night. Both keys didn't work, had to go back and get the attendant to re-key who went with us as we tried again. Hotel offers no cart to take luggage from the parking lot to the room and the entrance closest to our vehicle would not let you back in--had to get back in through the breezeway--safety issue at night. Entrance hallway to all the rooms smelled very bad and carpet dirty. Light fixture on outside by the ice machine and drink machine full of dead flying insects--in need of cleaning. The room had a bad smell which cleared up once the A/C turned on full blast and the room sprayed with Lysol "linen" scent. Blankets on both beds were dirty/stained and had to be taken off. I slept in the desk chair feeling sheets might not be clean. Our group unable to leave anything on floor because of being so filthy--put luggage and personal belongings on top of the table and the TV cabinet. Bathroom sink and toilet were fine, but the bathroom door was dirty, bathtub dingy, and shower curtain dirty and spotty (needed washing with soap and some bleach). Iron & board chained to the small safe that was low to the floor--unable to iron in upright position. Guest across the hall had a dog that kept barking. Patio door bolted; therefore, could not open--had there been a fire, our group would have been trapped--major safety issue.

Horrible Hotel

Besides the guests that drank beer and fished outside of my door all night and left beer bottles strewn about. The hotel advertises an EXTENSIVE continental breakfast, no it is not! The room was smelly. The bathroom had no fan to remove the steam from the shower, the vent that was there appeared to be connected to the bathroom in the next room because we could hear them talking. The towels appear to be years old as most were torn and stained. The shower had a big crack in it as well. The beds would bounce all over if you moved at all and the cable TV worked when it wanted to especially on the lower channels. You had to hold the handle down on the toilet to get it to flush which took about a minute and used about 30 gallons of water. We even had to have the toilet plunged by the only nice employee in the hotel. Upon checkout the staff requested I sign a credit card reciept for my stay even though this room had been prepaid. All in all this was a horrible hotel and there are plenty of hotels close to MCRD Parris Island that you should skip this one!!

My family and i stayed here on March 25-March 27th. Parking was ok. When we went into the room the security lock didnt work. They must have taken great liberties for their picture taking. The sliding glass door was screwed shut. The room smelled, the beds were worn out. The decor just made the room look dirty. When we returned to the room after a day at parris island with our son the cleaning woman was there eating a chicken off our table while cleaning the room. We didnt see any staff until we checked in and out.

What You Don't See!

The internet picture shows a reasonable looking storefront, but that all changes once you step foot into the lobby. When we arrived, there was nobody at the desk. We waited about 15 minutes and two young "men" finally appeared who looked just like college students. Let's make this short, bitter, and to the point: (1) The internet rate was $65 for those over 55. The actual charge was $90. (2) The "staff" tried to charge us for use of the room safe we didn't even know was there much less used. (3) The "non-smoking" room had been smoked in and you could tell they had tried to convert it from smoking to non-smoking. I caused me to get a gnawing headache while there. (4) The lobby doors were locked when we went to try to get the continental breakfast! (5) You had to turn the t.v. on by putting your tiny finger in a hole and pushing. The remote would not turn it on. (6) The walls were wild colors like you would see in India or Mexico. The dresser draws were all scratched up and ugly. (7) Parking was minimal because construction crew trucks and materials took up about 8 spots. (8) When we got our credit card statement, they had made a clerical error and overcharges us for one night. IN SHORT, A DEFINITE DUMP! AVOID HOWARD JOHNSONS LIKE THE PLAGUE!
