Decent Place to Stay

Decent Place to Stay

3 girls stayed here over a long weekend and it was really perfect.

The room had 2 queen beds, a pretty big bathroom with LOTS of towels, hairdryer, safe and the most important feature in my opinion....a coffee maker in the room.

We were on the 20th floor, overlooking a parking lot...but that didn't matter...we're in Vegas and we're not here for the views!

The beds were comfy, with duvets which is nice, cuz comforters are too hot.

There was a separate table with a mirror and table lamps, to help us get ready while one was in the shower. The water pressure was horrible, but we managed.

The lobby has a coffee stand with sandwiches and drinks.

There is also a hallway that connects the Paris and Bally's together, so we didn't have to go outside at all.

We didn't eat at any of the restaurants or use the pool, but the room was decent for the 3 of us.
it was free...so that was even better.

The best part were the number of towels and the coffee maker in the room.

Ballys - Bed Bugs! I'm still in shock!

Well, i first must say that this was my first trip to Vegas and my first time staying at a Bally's hotel. We booked for three nights to celebrate Valentine's Day, arrival Wed-departure Sat. The room was very nice, junior suite, view of the Eiffel tower of the Paris Hotel, once we entered the room, we were pleased with how expansive and wonderful the suite was. The soak in tub was very nice, and i loved the double vanity for my husband. I was loving it. Until the morning of Friday, 2/15 i woke up with bites on my wrists and one on my eye lid. I found it strange, i was itchy all day, and honestly thought it may have been mosquitos. Then on Saturday morning 2/16 i was awakened by a sharp pain on my forearm, and began to scratch. I turned on the lights, found a big welt on my arm, looked on the bed, and there was a bed bug! i immediately called housekeeping and front desk.20 minutes later, Housekeeping arrived, and took the bug away after i took pictures of the bug and my bites. Prior to She tried to persuade me to not report to make an incident report to security, She insisted that she cleaned the room well and changed the sheets everyday. I still wanted to write formal complaint and while i had security in my room giving the written report to him, my husband finds another bed bug on his side of the bed. I took second bug downstairs to the hotel manager.(mind you, this is now a full hour and a half taken away from my vacation) All staff was gracious, genuinely concerned and apologized, What a terrible ending to a beautiful stay at the Ballys...

Bally's

We didn't choose Bally's per se, the accommodations were part of a package deal that we arranged. We chose the package based soley on price and the central location of Bally's on the Strip.

We had a spacious room with two queen sized beds, a couch, TV, dresser, end tables - the usual hotel amenities. The room was clean and well decorated, if not somewhat dated. Bally's is one of the older hotels on the strip and with new hotels going up and renovations happening everywhere, the rooms weren't the latest and greatest that Vegas had to offer at the time of our trip.

Like most hotels in Vegas, Bally's is a large property. Pay close attention to your surroundings because if you're inclined to have a drink or two you might find it a bit confusing finding your way back to your room at the end of the night.

The slot machines at this hotel weren't the "loosest" machines in town, but paid out at a reasonable rate. And while the waitresses would always bring a free drink upon request, unless you're a big tipper they didn't come back too frequently. The hotel staff were all friendly, accommodating and helpful.

The show Jubilee is the main attraction at Bally's and has been for several years. Although it didn't appeal to us, so we didn't bother going to see it. Judging from the advertisements throughout the hotel, it looked like the quintessential "show-girl" review.

If you're looking for comfortable, reasonably priced accommodations, and are more interested in venturing out than sticking around the hotel then Bally's is a decent choice. Especially for it's central location on the Strip.

We stayed here as it is my in-laws favorite place to stay. I was assaulted by cigarette smoke coming from the casino upon entering. Yuck! The casino is not separated from the lobby and front desk area. This condition prevails during the entire stay.

When the reservations were originally made (back in February 2006 for the first week in November), the rooms were supposed to be on the concierge floor (Club 21). Bally's website lists classic and Grand Suite (luxury) as the online room choices. Their FAQ says this about room types: "There may be additional room types in the hotel that are not available on those specific dates or can only be booked through a Casino Host." It further states on getting the best room rates: "If you are a Total Rewards member (this is Harrah's loyalty program) and sign in, you will get the best rate available based on the information provided. The Hot Deals section of the site also provide you with special reduced rates. Room availability, Total Rewards membership and status, offer codes, and number of people traveling all influence the best rates shown." Check all your options when booking a room to get the best room/best rate!

Bally's notified us a couple months prior to arrival that the floors for the rooms we selected would be under renovation. No offer was made as to comparable quality rooms nor offer of a lower rate. We ended up with rooms on the 12th floor at $149 per night for a Sunday to Thursday stay. While the rooms were spacious (450 sqft), I didn't feel they were probably comparable to the original room type booked. Tip: If the hotel tries to play this switch-a-room with you, be firm as to what you want and are getting/paying for or you might get shortchanged. If you are a regular customer of the casino, you should be getting rewarded for that loyalty.

Several problems with the room: overlooked Las Vegas Blvd but the windows were filthy, my in-laws room overlooked the grungy center of the hotel structure, only one drinking glass was provided, old rose petals found on carpet and bathroom floor from previous guest, large hole in one of bath towels. The worst offense - lingering pipe smoke smell in bathroom of a non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor! When freshing was requested, an abundant amount of bleach was used, but it did not eliminate the smell. We had been told these rooms were recently renovated, but the loose and cracked caulk in the tub made me doubt it so I asked and was told the room had been redone 4 years ago! Sorry, but that's not recent renovation to me.

The only plus is the sufficient lighting in the room.

The pool was closed for the season. Strange considering the very warm weather.

Grade: D-. Bally's needs to shape up or risk losing repeat customers. There are too many other (and better) choices.

Ballys Las Vegas

On this trip, I stayed in the newly renovated portion of this hotel, and it was very nice for what we paid for the room. The rooms were clean, the customer service at the hotel was great, and the restaurants were wonderful. It was a great location to stay at, being so close to the Bellagio and Paris. In the evenings, it was easy to walk over to the Bellagio and watch the fountain show or walk to Paris and have one of their decadent desserts. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, even though it wasn't the top of the line for Vegas.
