Friendly staff, our room got upgraded from no view to a partial view room, which was awesome! Has complimentary shuttle to/from airport. Would definitely come back here.

Kauai is a great place to be.

The pool is also so large that it never ...Read more We just returned from a stay at the Kauai Marriott on Kalapaki beach and loved it. Here's what we especially loved: Great pool-- no slide but the fountains, a bridge to an island in the pool center were fun. The pool is also so large that it never seemed crowded. There are 4 or 5 hot tubs that ease crowds too. It's wonderful to sit by the pool and look out onto the beach and bay. Location-- the hotel is in a good central location making it easy to get to the north and south shores of the island. The hotel is only about 2 miles from the airport. I was worried that we would hear planes all day, but, really, we didn't. It wasn't an issue at all. Beautiful grounds-- the hotel grounds are beautifully landscaped. When you enter the hotel property, you drive up a lovely tree lined road. There are many pretty spots along the grounds-- a pond and waterfall, a bridge over a little stream, lots of stone pathways (including one leading up to pretty benches beneath a huge tree), lush greenery, tons of open air sitting/lounging spaces. The torches at night are really pretty as well. We actually walk around at another hotel that is known for it's grounds, and, really, we all thought the Marriott was really lovely on its own. Restaurants- There are 3 places to eat on the property and several more just a short walk down the beach. There is poolside grill as well. We loved Cafe Portofino for Italian. We lucked out at Dukes and got a great table on the deck (actually all the tables are terrific) and the food is wonderful! At Duke's the portions are huge so you get a lot for your money. The place has a fun vibe. Just across the way from Cafe Portofino, you find JJs Beach Broiler (or some name very close to that). It's not part of the hotel but so close. Prices are very good for lunch (that's what we tried) and their deck faces the ocean. I have to say that have the best seafood chowder I've ever tasted in my life. Rooms-- Our room was great. We didn't spend much time in the room, because the pool area was SPECTACULAR and being from Montana, we loved the sun! Can't wait to go back again & THANK YOU!!!

The grounds are very nice. My room had sealed windows. It smelled like industrial air freshener. I can not believe Marriott would have rooms with windows that dont open in Hawaii.
