A fun weekend but not because of the hotel!

The hotel left a lot to be desired, and I'm just glad that it cost much less than what we're used to paying. The hotel had many areas in which there were leaks in the ceiling and water was dripping into buckets in the hallway. The paint was chipping off the walls in places. Worst of all, in my opinion, the back door from the parking lot closest to our particular room had a broken lock. The door didn't latch and could be moved slightly by strong gusts of wind. I found it unpleasant that at 9:00 am the cleaning staff knocked on the door and when there was no answer opened the door. Check out is at noon and they had no record of us having already checked out. Restaurant service was lousy as well.

Great location, but dirty and extremely humid inside the hotel. The pool area is a great attraction but the water smelt of urine and left an odor on swim clothes that lasted until we were able to launder them. One of our rooms had no airconditioning. There was visible black mold in the bathroom of two rooms. This place needs to be rebuilt!!
A little renovation would do a lot of good

The hotel is horribly run down, the rooms outdated, the management ran everything on the cheap to maximize profits. Our families had to keep switching rooms because of room A/C units that did not work. For some reason, the common areas of the hotel (hallways, check in, etc.) were kept at a very high temperature (the hallways by our rooms were at least 90 degrees- no kidding!!). There are definately better options in Hays- I would advise anyone to avoid staying here unless you enjoy a night sweating on a very used bed in a hotel that smells like chlorine and carpet cleaner.
Not the best nights sleep at a Holiday Inn

Our 1st rooms Heating was broken. We were moved to another room that night. The other rooms heater was also not working properly and room was not very clean. Maintenance started working on pool at 8:00 am and was very loud. This place needs some TLC from the staff.
