Best Things Nearby:
Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, Colonial Willamsburg, York Town and Carters Grove.

Best Things About the Resort:
Well decorated and spacious. Lots of activites for adults and children. The resort has an activities director.

Resort Experience:
The beauty of the resort is breathtaking. The grounds are well kept and there are ducks everywhere. They have a hot tub room in your unit that overlooks the wooded area and a patio is off the living room and hot tub room.

The unit is well furnished and fully stocked with everything you need to feel right at home.

The staff is very friendly.

The only thing I did not like is that the adult pool was dirty. There was a huge dirt ring around the entire pool and the water was cloudy.

Williamsburg has 100s of restaurants and wonderful shopping places. We go once a year and always enjoy ourselves.

Best Things Nearby:
Appox. one mile from a mid-size mall with a full grocery store, Target, and several places to eat, as well as a gas station.

Best Things About the Resort:
Fantastic looking place. The development is built on the grounds of an old plantation, where they have restored the manor house and utilized the old carriage house as the offices. There are many amenities, including indoor (1) and outdoor (2) pools, a playground, tennis courts, mini-golf, a nature trail, bike rentals, and much more.

Resort Experience:
One of the most amazing feelings was driving into this place. There is a long access road which leads directly to the restored brick "manor house". You can just imagine it with a dusty dirt road leading up to it, and a coach arriving with guests. To your left as you go in, check out the pond and you will probably see the swans. If they aren't there, there is another pond to the right of the manor, and they're probably over there.

Checking in was a bit tough because they don't allow check-in until a certain time, four or five, and we arrived shortly thereafter. We were given explicit directions to the room, which really wasn't that hard to locate. When we got into the room, however, we discovered that it hadn't been cleaned. After a phone call to the office, we expected a quick return call. A half-hour later, I called back, and they quickly and politely moved us to another room.

Room two, had a problem as well. The bed- well, lets just say it had to be remade. This time, there was someone there almost immediately. They apologized profusely, but it seemed odd to me that we weren't moved into a better room, or that something wasn't comped.

After that, the vacation went very smoothly. The "one bedroom" was actually a master and a loft, so it easily could sleep 4 without using the couch, which I believe was a pullout. The room had a shower in the main bathroom which included a steambath, and the bath off the master bedroom had a deep bathtub, but not a whirlpool tub. The kitchen was not a full kitchen, but included a microwave, mini-fridge, hotplate, toaster and toaster-oven. We cooked nearly everything we needed here unless we wanted to go out. The place is beautiful.

Best Things Nearby:
Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown Settlement, Wet & Wild. Virgina Beach is 40 minutes away.

Best Things About the Resort:
Plenty of room. Private deck with hot tub. The unit had three TVs, full kitchen, and washer/dryer. Free internet at the registration office. Very clean.

Resort Experience:
Too much to do in a week. The resort had planned activities for the kids (pool party and movie night), indoor pools, and a fitness center. Very clean! The only disappointment was the queen bed should have been a king bed in the master bedroom, and they need larger TVs.

Best Things Nearby:
Everything from Historic Williamsburg to Busch Gardens only a few minutes away. Virginia Beach is only an hour (traffic providing) away.

Best Things About the Resort:
Rooms were very spacious. The kids loved the playground -- I think there could have been a little more shade on or around it.

Resort Experience:
We didn't really get to do all that we had wanted, but that wasn't the resorts fault -- it was hurricane Isabel, which hit on Thursday. There were a few trees down in the resort and some shingles missing, but the maintenance seemed to try to take care of them (even during the storm there were out cutting on that landed next to our car). Overall, it was a really nice place to spend our first trip to a resort.

Best Things Nearby:
Located right in between Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown Colony (10 minutes from each) and with Yorktown Colony approximately 30 minutes away, the resort is right in the center of American history.

Prime shopping at numerous factory outlet malls are located 10 minutes north and dining on Williamsburg main street with a wide variety of menues and prices are just 5 minutes away.

For the kids and the young at heart Busch Gardens is less than 15 minutes south of the resort.

Best Things About the Resort:
Even being so close to all these attractions, the resort is located on beautiful plantation grounds removed from the crowded and somewhat noisy Williamsburg. The grounds offer natural beauty like rarely seen on resorts with charming lakes and ponds, nature trails and an abundance of wildlife.

The rooms, though of an older date, are in almost pristine condition and are very well laid out for a family vacation with privacy for both parents and children and the onsite activities are enough that you need not leave the resort in order to keep yourself or your children entertained.

Resort Experience:
Upon arriving you are whisked through one of the most efficient check-ins I've ever experienced. Two minutes from stepping in until we had our room key and the basic first-time visit questions answered.

Stepping into our suite the positivie experience just continued--two spacey bedrooms, a cozy living/dining room with fireplace, kitchen with room enough to actually cook (that's more unusual than it should be), and a wonderful Jacuzzi room overlooking our patio.

The only disappointment came when we discovered that the resort offers no firewood until later in the season, so our plans for a romantic night in front of the fire got squashed.

The grounds, as mentioned, are absolutely beautiful. Several lakes have little gazebos for relaxing/romantic observing of the many swans and geese and a nature trail offers a lovely after-dinner walk.

There are two restaurants on-site: A grill with a nice, reasonably priced menu and fancy dining which requires "appropriate attire".

For the active vacation there are volleyball and basketball courts and four outdoor swimming pools (two for children, one shared, and one adults only) as well as one indoor pool.

All in all, a very nice place for both family vacations and romantic getaways. We'll be coming back for sure.
