Very Poor Experience

Had a horrible experience at this resort. Many problems with everything from the hot tub (4 service calls, possible short blowing bracker, just what you want in hot tub!) to the airconditioning (had to be recharged and filters cleaned--then howled) =---Think they would have done that prior to guests arriving. Front desk told us they would "take care of us". NOT. We packed both units only to find out we were not going anywhere. Wasted half a day waiting to move. Don't put yourself in that position. Resort manager said he would investigate and get back to me. NOT. Ignored repeated phone calls. When I upgraded my membership there I was told I would be treated as a VIP when vacationing there. NOT. More like trash I would say. STAY AWAY!
Make sure your unit is renovated before going.....

or you will be sadly disappointed. Aside from the obvious lack of upkeep, pests in the room, appliances that didn't work and the general unwillingness of the management team to correct the issues, the location is good but the resort is in need of serious, serious renovations. We have been timeshare owners for 15 years and this was hands down the worst experience we have had. Unless you get a renovated room - guaranteed - stay somewhere else.
A great stay!

We had a wonderful experience there! With a great price from online travel website, we had very nice comfy accommodation, convenient kitchen, and spacious bathrooms. Beautiful outdoors. Fun activities for the whole family! Close to every attraction! highly recommend to everyone! But the pool is not as good as expected. Too small and very crowded.

I called for clean towels, and was informed that I would have to pay for clean towels. If you are on vacation you should not have to pay to get clean towels. After that my stay was very good. I will not stay at the Historic Powhatan Resort again. Thank you!

When we first checked in we were given a room that was dirty & had not been cleaned. There was dirty towels & trash on the floor. We went back to the office to get another suite. The office was quick about getting the new key but never offered an apology. Oh well! The new room was very nice! We booked a two bedroom 1st floor suite. The bed was very comfortable! We also had our own hot tub in a hot tub room off the master suite. The condo is set up so you share a common entry way that has two doors to the upstairs & downstairs suites. Well everything echoes in to the room. So the neighbors woke up our 5 month old bringing in all their stuff at 12am.
Our room had a view of a pond with geese. Our older daughter (19 months) enjoyed spending time on the deck. The kitchen came in handy when we found it is easier to make dinner than to take the kids out to eat. The coffee maker was a pain, the lid was broken so it did not press the drip thing, so all the coffee sat in the top of the coffee maker. A little Magiver-ing and we had it working.
We did go to the pool, the girls had a BLAST! I didn't care much for their pool towels. The playground was a big hit also! We went to see Elmo at Bush Gardens. All in all a good weekend. I would go again. The price was right. If you compare this to other places it is so worth it. I couldn't imagine a single room with no seating or microwave for our family at this stage.
