if you have high expectations - don't stay here

I booked this resort using RCI and found this trip to be disappointing. The best thing about my unit is the 4 person Jacuzzi. This resort is undergoing renovation and has new units available but never received a renovated unit although my request was made in advance. The carpet is old, several electrical sockets won't hold a cord and the master bathroom lacks a shower but has plenty of rust around the tub's handle and caulk surrounding the wood paneling. Forget about using WIFI unless you're prepared to camp-out in the main lobby or Grill. The unit was clean but halfway renovated; it has laminate countertops, a dented and scratched-up refrigerator, and dark cabinets from what appears to be from the 80's. The staff booking the tour are persistent and they want a $20 deposit to hold your spot for the tour; they say you money is refunded at the conclusion of the tour but why take me on a tour of a unit that I can?t occupy and pay a deposit for a tour that takes away from my personal time. Lastly, when you check-in they swipe your credit card but never tell you that you must call the operator to activate your phone service for calls being made to establishments outside the resort.

Because this was at an Plantation it was a time share which we were not aware of. The loft we stayed in was not throughly clean food and etc. behind doors, under furniture. The bedding was not real clean someones tissue was in between the top and bottom sheets. It was just uncomfortable staying there. There were two bathrooms neither of the plugin sockets worked so we had to do the hairdrying in the hall. The shower is in need of repair below the faucet was something that looked like it was growing in the shower. Also there was to be a ironing board in the room there was not. We checked out one day early.

Wished we had stayed here longer

I read other reviews and was a little scared before coming here. While it's true that there are some things that need updating, the place is great. We stayed here for three nights. The kitchen was in great shape as were the 2 bedrooms (1 king size bed, 2 twin beds). There was also a pull out couch. The only things that needed updating were the bathrooms and the hot tub. The bathroom is not a big deal to us....it was clean and nice just older cabinents and shower. The hot tub room is awesome but our tub was old and a little hard to control but we used it anyway and the kids thought it was great. The deck was large with a table and chairs. The pool area consists of 1 baby pool, 1 kids pool that goes up to 4 feet deep, 1 large pool that goes up to 5 feet deep, and an adults only pool. There is also a hot tub. There was no life guard which I felt could be beneficial as some parents don't always do a good job watching their kids. There is also an indoor pool in the fitness center. We didn't go to any restaurants because we brought our own food and used the kitchen, it worked out great. We left for V.Beach and then came back to the Williamsburg area 3 days later but stayed at a Days Inn. We were so disappointed that we didn't stay at Powhatan again. This is an awesome place for the family. I thought it was really worth the money and look forward to coming back.

I love this place. The hot tub room in the unit is awesome. It is a great place to getaway from it all.. Beautiful grounds.

Cutting Corners

The "luxury" resort needs attention; bedrooms lack a chair to sit on and proper lighting; advertised "complete" baths are not complete; the Grill has incompetent and too few servers; is sparsely decorated; looks like a room being used temporarily for dining; the grounds are lovely; makes a good first impression.
