From the time I emailed this hotel months before our arrival, I knew we were going to be in for a special treat. The staff here is FABULOUS and did everything they could to make our visit with them memorable. From the time of check in and satisfying our request for a room on the 12th floor overlooking Hyde Park to providing us with all the information we needed to visit the city. Sydney is a VERY walkable city. When you can not walk, the mass transit system is a marval and easily accessible. NOONE should have any reason whatsoever of NOT having a pleasant stay in Sydney...especially in NOVEMBER,

This hotel is as perfect as a hotel could get. Eighty-five percent of the rooms face Hyde Park, and the junior suite we stayed in had a large balcony, not to mention HUGE bathrooms! The staff is extremely kind and knowledgeable of their wonderful city. The location of the hotel is ideal, at the south end of Hyde Park, a block away from a large bus stop and a block away from the train. Also walking distance to the Circular Quay in the downtown area. I was very well-treated by everyone, especially by Nick, the concierge!

Typically Marriot Great Views (see pics). My window looked out over Hyde Park. Twenty minute walk from Darling Harbour, 30 minute walk to Sydney Harbor, 10 minute walk to Monorail or train, & 20 Minutes walk to Kings Crosss. It is located on many bus lines. Typically Marriot with good service & restaurants. Close by are several restaurants, grocery store, Cafes, Hungry Jack (Burger King). Exercise room & pool. 2 minutes to museum. My room had a huge square tub, refrigerator, & coffee making supplies.

Sydney Marriott Hotel
I was highly content with my choice of lodgings, the Sydney Marriott Hotel. In many respects, it seems a typical business class hotel. However, its location, reasonable tariff and comfortable rooms distinguish this property. The Marriott also offers a small rooftop pool that affords views of downtown and Sydney’s harbor. There is a minor workout room up there, too -- better gyms are within walking distance.
The Marriott is situated on College Avenue across from Hyde Park. Many rooms offer a view of this green gem that features the ANZAC War Memorial. Stroll through the park in the morning and inhale deeply as you pass beneath the boughs of eucalyptus. Continuing up College Avenue, the Australian Museum is just a short walk away. A subway stop located at the foot of the park makes it easy to get downtown, to Circular Quay, or to Central Station, where you can connect to trains that travel further afield. Also, the hotel stands in close proximity to the many restaurants of Oxford Street.
My double room was quiet and comfortable and included a well-stocked minibar, a good-sized bathroom and adequate space to lounge. The rate was A$215 per night in high season, a bit more than one might pay for less comfortable digs down Oxford Street but less than many of Sydney’s other business class hotels. And certainly affordable considering the current favorable exchange rate.
