Clarion Westgate Toledo

Their website leads you to believe much more of it. It really is just basic accommodations, clean, but many small aesthetic flaws (read: old). Fitness center has nothing but old, beat up equipment, so don't count on a good work out unless you just hit the open road - better to try the free gym pass available to guests. Speedy room service! Excellent portion size for the price. Overpriced for what you get, but convenient location.

horrible hotel

I would not recommend this hotel under any circumstance. It seemed unsafe, not clean, there was a spider in the bathroom, the rug seemed dirty, the doors were not secure.

I?ve done quite a bit of traveling with the kids and have always strived to stay at decent motels. I always felt that Clarion was a cut above, I was WRONG. This place is not for resting your weary head, this is party town?all-night-long. Upon arriving, I found the lobby to be very nice and clean. I now know not to let this be an indication of the level of service or of guests? manners. The room was alright, except for water and used soap still in the tub. We could also hear a thump, thump, thump of loud music that seemed to be coming from an adjoining room. At 9:00 p.m. we turned off the T.V. and lights, only to find that the music was even louder and more annoying. At 10:00 p.m. unable to fall asleep because of the music, I called guest services to alert them of the loud music. I was told they would send security up. I dressed and went into the hall to see that a security officer was indeed arriving several minutes latter. I invited him into our room so he could hear the noise; he agreed that it was loud enough to be disruptive. He told me to notify him if it remained loud after he talked to this guest, he then left. I don?t know if he even talked to them, because the music seemed to get louder! At 11:00 p.m. a called guest services to politely alert them again, and once again was told it would be taken care of. Mind you, it was difficult to hear the fellow at guest services because there was very loud music coming from his end. After a half an hour passed and there was no discernable change in the volume of this music. I decided to go to the front desk, and if I received no satisfaction the kids and I would be checking out. Upon leaving the room and along the way to the lobby I was surprised at the spectacle that surrounded me. Several people roaming the halls talking loudly on cell phones. Kids running to and from rooms, doors hanging open with much revelry within the rooms, loud music EVERYWERE. Card reading security doors were swung wide open, inviting anyone off the street into the motel. As I approached the lobby I passed the lounge / ballroom and was shocked at the volume of the music within At the front desk I introduced myself and told the manager that I was the guest who had called twice about the loud music. The manager quickly responded that security had been sent to the area twice and could find no loud music. I then invited her to my room so she could tell me how I should sleep with such distraction. She stated that would not be necessary since she already knew there was NO loud music, because security says so. I then asked for a refund. The manager, then leaving the front desk turned to a fellow employee and asked them to refund my payment. This was 11:30 p.m. at night! The kids and I were packed and departed at 11:45 p.m. Since all other motels were booked I was faced with a two hour drive home.

The hotel was fine -- rooms could use some renovations, but they were clean, which to me is more important than anything. The indoor pool was very nice. The kids LOVED it.

Very Unhappy Stay

We stayed here because it was close to the University and we wanted a Full Service hotel with dining and bar. The stay was horrible, no working remotes, dirty blankets, dirty bathrooms.Very LOUD party in hallway. Didn't get sleep, mentioned on check out and sent letter. NO RESPONSE, bad customer service. We will have to find another facility to stay when visiting our daughter at the Univ.of Toledo!
