The Imperial Palace sent me an email telling me to call to get an upgrade. I called and they said that I needed to print the email and bring it when I check in. I did this, and at check in they said that I should have called and booked the upgrade. Of course, they did not give me the upgrade as they were all booked. They told me that one would be available the next day, but when I called the next day, they had none available. The elevators were slow, crowded, and hard to get to. We used the stairs since it was an average of a fifteen minute wait to get an elevator that had room. When we finally got to our room after dragging our luggage up 6 flights of stairs, we were appalled at what we found. Our room was dirty, small, and the carpet was covered by cigarette burns. We never unpacked our suitcases since we were afraid to use the dilapitated dresser. The main selling points of us deciding to stay here were the fact that there was a balcony for us to sit on, and we looked forward to poolside luaus. The one upside was that since there was the problem with our upgrade, the front desk had put us in a room with a view of the pool. Unfortunatly, the balcony was small and contained no chairs. On top of that, the luaus cost $50, only lasted 2 hours, caused the pool to close at 4pm, and were extremely loud in our room. The hotel is also confusing. There are no signs that give directions in the halls, and everything requires asking someone where it is located.
Do yourself a favor; Spend the extra money and stay elsewhere.

Stayed June 18th through June 22nd. Had a very early flight in, and asked if it was possible to check in early. The Hotel staff was friendly and very courteous in allowing me to do so. The room was a basic room with two queen beds. Clean and efficient. Each room has a balcony over looking the pool. Past guest have made comments about the elevators, Do NOT believe the elevator stories. Instead look for other ones, the Hotel has quite a few hidden throughout the building just ask where others ones are located. I never had to wait for one at any time during the four days. The concierage services were commendable as well, very informative giving information and recommending alternative ways to get to locations. The pool bar staff were just as friendly, and they offer daily happy hour specials. A wonderful location and great value!

I found my room to be acceptable for the price I paid. I got the lowest priced room because I was just looking for a place to sleep. It was clean and the bed was comfortable although it was certainly in need of a face lift. I think there were nicer rooms to be had there at a higher price, but since I was looking for "cheap", I was OK with what I got. When I checked in, they were out of non-smoking rooms in the quiet part of the building. I tried the NS in the noisy part above the plaza where the rock band plays until 4 a.m. (they warned me), but quickly knew that wasn't going to work. They moved me to the quiet part ,but I had to tolerate the smoking room. The next day they moved me to NS in the quiet part--much better . The front desk was helpful and friendly but the hotel check-in process takes 10-15 minutes per person. Every time I was near the front desk, there was a line. I think the hotel needs to find a way to do that better. The Burger Palace was the only food service open at 9 p.m. It wasn't as good as McDonalds and was pricey for the quality you get. There are plenty of places to grab a quick bite just outside the door. This casino seemed to be the smokiest one on the strip which is unpleasant for a non-smoker to walk through just to get to the elevators. The location on the strip is very convenient. However, you do have to realize that something that looks close on the map may not be. I started out walking to a place I could see, and it ended up being 3 miles!
Good Motel for the Price

The Imperial is in a great location, middle of the strip, which was the reason we stayed there. The only problem we experienced was when we first arrived we were given a room that had not been cleaned. Upon returning to the desk we were given a different room by the clerk immediately. The second room was clean and we had no other problems with the room or any of the staff. Anytime we needed help or had questions the staff was very helpful and friendly. I did not find the pool area very appealing and the pool hours were not the best, 9-5. Another thing I found odd was that the hotel entrance was behind the Rockhouse bar. You have to go past the bar and through a side walkway to get in. Sometimes this just seemed inconvenient. Was not impressed with the restaurants in the motel and after one meal in one of them never ate in the motel again. However, very near a McDonalds and Starbucks so morning coffee and breakfast is not far away. Harrahs cafe nearby has a great steak and shrimp special for $7.99. I do have to agree that the elevator was extremely slow but we tried to make light of it and joked with others waiting about the slowness. All in all this was an okay motel but after having walked through many others while in Vegas I would probably choose one of them if I ever travel to Vegas again.
