Good Hotel/Not so good restaurant

Hotel was great! Beds and updated linens were very comfortable, plenty of big pillows! Room was clean, pool/hot tub was clean and enjoyable.
I chose this hotel because it had a restaurant, but was largely disappointed. Food on menu was nothing my kids would eat and very expensive. They were having a Mexican Buffet which we chose to have, the food was not good, we left still hungry. Waitress came to get our drink order, brought our drinks and never came back. I had to go find her to ask for my check. There may have been 6 or 7 other tables in the restaurant at the time with at least 2 other waitresses, not busy enough to warrant her not coming back to our table.
If the restaurant had better food and service, the hotel would have received an excellent rating from me.

What service?

We stayed for three nights. The room was never cleaned. We were out of the room for hours on end during the day, generally returning to get ready for dinner and then coming back later after dinner. Our towels were removed from the room, but none returned. Beds were never made. Trash was not emptied. No cleaning at all. Someone finally showed up at 4:49 p.m. to clean, just at the time we were returning to shower. Cable worked sporadically. Coffee cup was marked "clean", but was dirty and had small bug in it. Stay away.

FYI the folks who confirm reservations are not onsite and know little about the actual facility. We were not in the main building, none of the suites are, but were in adjacent buildings. Wireless internet worked only in the hotel or in the restaurant, however, dial-up service was available for a small fee. The restaurant - bourbon st. grill or something - was a big disappointment with no televisions visible from the non-smoking area, The food was good enough! Location was the best part. Our suite had a kitchenette, so I bought lots of food - no oven though, only stovetops.

Weekender Trip to Colonial Williamsburg

The Room:
May have been converted from a broom closet. The sheets on the bed were on inside out and the pillow cases were ripped. The bathroom was less than accomadating. The sink had pulled away from the counter and there was a ring of black mold under the mounds of caulk that they loaded on to try to fill the gap. I took a shower before bed the first night and the shower floor was very slimy under my feet. Gross!!!!
The Pool:
Attractive, with clean towels and pool area. However, you could see as the sun shone in the windows floating hair on the top of the water. They need a stronger filter!
The Food:
Great, we had breakfast and it was tasty.
The Staff:
Very polite and accomadating.
Best Point:
They keep apples in the lobby so that you can feed the horses across the street.
Worst Point:
Bathroom!

RENOVATIONS ARE GREAT

You can see this hotel cares about its guests by the little things it does like free apples and coffee as well as iced water. It was so nice that we wanted to stay longer. It is across the street from a horse pasture which adds to the atmosphere. There was a train at night but it was a short one barely heard over the a/c. The operator was very helpful with suggestions as well as directions. The restaurant had the best pies even your mom would skip baking to enjoy. I noticed ongoing work at the hotel which some people complained about. It was reassuring to me to see they recognized problem areas and were addressing them. The fitness area was just enough for the maintenance of my routine but not a gym like some folks seem to expect. When you come to williamsburg, its to sight see not buff up. The gameroom was small but that was great because the kids didn't spend the whole vacation hanging out there. The only thing I didn't like was the security. I noticed the guard hanging out in the bar until closing. During that time my car was broken into. He seemed angry that I reported it. I will return though. The positives outweighed the negative.
