Best Things About the Resort:
The units are close to everything.
Resort Experience:
The resort is gated, with a guard 24/7. Units can either be on first, second, or third floors (maybe fourth, not sure), and there are no elevators, so carrying up luggage can be a chore, but it's worth it. We had a two-bedroom. The master bedroom had a king-size bed, TV, and bath with a Jacuzzi, while the second bedroom had a queen-size or double bed and no TV. The living room couch opened up (but was not comfortable), and there was a second bath, nice dining area, and full kitchen that had a counter with two stools. There was also a washer/dryer set (the dryer took a little long). We went with family, who were on third floor. We were on second. It was nice because the front door was accessible to only our units, so we had the doors open when we were home so the kids could go back and forth. The resort had some activities, of which we attended one, and the kids had fun (painting a large papier-mâché box, which cost $4 per child). The pool was smaller than I thought from the website, but nice. The staff was always helpful and friendly.
The resort is 5 minutes to Yorktown/Jamestown Settlement; about 15 minutes to Busch Gardens, which is great; and minutes from Historic Williamsburg. We did the Walking Ghost Tour, which we didn't really like. The kids, and us, thought it would be ghost stories, but it turned out to be more historic storytelling, with one very long ghost story in the first hour. The kids lost interest fast, so we had to leave the tour early. It was a waste of money, but if your kids are older, you may like it.
The resort has a home-away-from-home feel, which was nice. We liked it.
