I'll never stay there again.

My reservation which was made one week prior, meant nothing other that I ws showing up. Did not get the room with two queen beds, I slept on a pull out sofa bed, for the EXACT SAME ROOM RATE!!! I had to stand up on my daughters bed to attempt to look out of the window. There's no place to put a towel near the shower, except on the floor. No hook, No bar. I got an unrequested wake up call at 5:45 am, by a recorded message, reminding me that breakfast would be served beginning at 7am. I'd been there 3 days. I kind of knew about the breakfast. I loved Charleston, but I'll not ever stay at Embassy Suites again.

Probably won't come back!

It is hard to take a really old building and make it a hotel, much less an Embassy Suites. Rooms are very small and in disrepair. Poor furniture quality and age of furnishings not reflective of an Embassy Suites stay. Carpet very outdated and dirty, curling up at seams. Killed two large roaches. Sheets on our bed not changed from previous guest. Mold on botton of shower curtain, poor T.V. reception and real expensive parking. Breakfast quality was excellent, but eating area tiny. A huge center area of hotel is total wasted space. All this is awful, but the people that worked there were great! Very friendly staff at the front desk and in the kitchen. Easily this properties only asset was its great people!

Don't judge a hotel by its exterior

When we pulled up, I thought, WOW, this is great! And when in the lobby it was of a grand scale. But when you get into your room, its a different story. Very outdated decor, couch had holes, carpet was extremely dirty, no fan in the bathroom and no room to turn around in the bathroom. I was dissappointed in the cost versus the quality. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Wouldn't stay here again

I love Embassy Suites but this one wasn't what I expected. The beds are full size, but a comfortable small bed. The breakfast line was HUGE for breakfast, the reception (beverage, snack) line was HUGE. The walk to Market Street is about 8 blocks, not 4 like they tell you. The room had a hard time keeping a good temperature. It was either too hot or too cold. For the price you can get a room closer to the Market. We didn't even bother going down for drinks and the breakfast was too much of a hassle as well. It is a nice old historic building, but not the usual Embassy Suites stay.

Great stay in the heart of historic Charleston

The Embassy Suites in historic downtown Charleston was converted from the former Citadel military academy. The hotel common areas are beautiful and the rooms are well appointed. There was even an LCD hi-def TV in the room. The staff was superb...courteous and helpful. And of course, the complimentary cocktails from 5:30-7:30 pm were a nice touch. I would definitely stay there again.
