Good Experience

My wife and I got a very good deal on Travel online for hotel and flight and had a great experience. Offered a $35 a night upgrade to a tower room, but decided to stay where we were. The guy emphasized to us three different times that our room was "very small." The room was small, but was very nice...clean...large bathroom...had the heavenly bed and shower and a new flat screen TV with some HD channels. Heck! We weren't there to kill time in the room anyway! There is a lot of history in this hotel and the displays in the lobby were very interesting. Great location at Union Square. $10 cab ride to Fisherman's Wharf and the cable car ($5) stops right in front of the hotel and takes you to the Wharf as well. Lots of shopping and restaurants within short walking distance and the prices weren't as high as I thought they would be.
One negative: Too many panhandlers! I felt like I was getting accosted whenever I left the hotel! I had to ignore them after I realized that I would go broke if I handed all of them money!
Summary: Very good experience! Highly recommended.

Beautiful place in a great location. This hotel is 3 blocks from the BART stop and across the street from a trolly stop. I arrived at 10 am and asked about leaving my back pack somewhere before check in - lo and behold they had a room ready. The room was great. I didn't have a view, but who travels to stay in their hotel room? The front desk staff is great. Y checked me in and even spent time telling of place to see. She was as excited about my visit as I was. I wished I could have stayed longer.

Stayed in the old wing... run down... smells bad... very noisy unpleasant,,, AC runs like a train
when neighbors flush their toilet.. feels like a bomb hit us.. gave us a room beside the elevator,, made it more worst... sleepless night.. would not stay here again

Had a great time at the historic Weston. The location is great for food and shopping. The street car goes by right out side the door to get to the wharf. The charm of the old hotel was diminished a bit by the construction going on in th lobby but the room was wonderful with a small desk area and beautiful crown molding and an antique looking chandelier. The concierge was very helpful in fiinding a kid friendly place to eat and even provided priority seating coupons.
