WOW - What a Weekend

  • August 13, 2007

My wife and I spent the weekend here and it was awesome. The staff was top notch and the concierge help was second to none. The location is perfect and the people could not have been more friendly. This really made my wife's 40th birthday a trip to remember. Thank You.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

The hotel is DISGUSTING!!! There is the old part of the hotel and a new tower - if you HAVE to stay here make sure you ask to be put in the new tower. The old rooms are terrible and dirty. And the services was awful. My suitcase was delivered to the wrong room, and they were not helpful with this situation at all. The rooms (and we had 3 separate rooms in the old part) were awful. They are really small, but the worst part is how dirty they are. There were hairs all over a picture hanging in the bathroom, but worst of all the sheets were very thin and you could see hair all over the mattress cover right under the sheet. This was not just in my room, we had a large group staying at the hotel and this was the same in at least 6 different rooms. In my friend's room, they left for the day and when they returned there was a pizza box with leftovers sitting on top of their TV...they NEVER ate pizza while they were there! Either the cleaning staff ate in their room or it had never been taken away from the last guests. There are plenty of hotels in San Francisco, be sure to stay at another one - any hotel has to be better than this one.

Historical Hotel and great place to stay for vacation

Prime location for venturing throughout the city(downtown). No need for use of personal vehicle for proximal locations of touring (attractions). Trollycar is the best mode of mobility. Old hotel but historically beatiful with much history from early years. Parking is quite expensive(daily) .Can't go wrong with this hotel and yes I will certainly stay here again. . Staff polite and very courteous and assistive.

I stay at the hotel for a weekend trip. The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive. I really liked the simple and yet elegant room design. Only one thing i wasn't crazy about was the elevator. It sorts of jerked when stopping at each floor.

GREAT HOTEL

What a beautiful hotel and welcoming staff. The hotel is perfectly located on Union Square and is next to a cable car line - so we could get all over quickly. If you like grand old hotels - this one is perfect!
