We stayed in both the old and new sections. Traveled with 6 people so we did get to experience several rooms. The historic section has wonderful ambiance with heavenly but small beds. Room size is a toss up as well as bath size but all have double head showers with great water pressure. The new section has larger rooms with bigger beds and more amenities but lacks the ambiance. Staff was courteous and very helpful. Hotel was clean. Expensive to eat there but there are tons of wonderful places to eat all around the city. Never had a bad meal in San Francisco!

I booked this trip a few weeks before New Year's Eve for my girlfriend and I. Everything went smoothly with the hotel, the check-in was seamless and quick. We stayed in the modern section. Everything was perfect in the room. The location of hotel was perfect, right in the heart of everything (Union Square). We had breakfast at Sears right on the other block (5 min). We would definitely go back and wouldn't stay anywhere else. The only complaint that we had was that the plumbing and AC was fairly loud, but didn't disturb us from being comfortable.
