Hilton San Francisco

This was an OK experience. Room was comfortable, though a "city view" meant looking over the Tenderloin District. Everything was very clean. The bed super comfortable. Unfortunately the restaurant on the top floor has been closed (no access). The bar/restaurant ajoins the hotel and rather trendy; kind of different. Paying $50 a night for unvaleted parking a bit too much (what is a parking occupancy tax?).

Weekend Trip

Traveled to SF for a weekend trip with my boyfriend. I wanted to stay in a nice place, so I choose the Hilton. The rooms were very nice, newly remodeled (or so they appeared to be). The first night was fine, the linens and towels were great. My boyfirend can't sleep with down pillows and we called the front desk, and although it took some time, they sent two foam pillows for his use to the room. The towels we used the first night we thick and luxurious bath towels. When we left that morning for sightseeing, we made sure to leave a tip for the housekeeper. However, although we left a tip, it must not have been enough for their taste, because the second night, the towels we used were much smaller, and a lot less luxirious then the towels that were there the first night. Go figure. The check in process was quick and easy. The hotel was very clean and not at all noisy, except for the occasional slam of the neigbors' doors. The ice machine near our room was out of ice and I had to travel pretty far to get ice from another ice maker. We did not park at the hotel, but at a lot a block and a half up the street which included in and out privlidges and charged only 20.00 per 24 hour period. I would certainly recommend that. They are open 24 hours and the walk to the hotel was not bad at all. The parking at the hotel was more then double that price.

Great staff, room A/C a pain

The staff was universally friendly and helpful, the concierge was great for restaurant suggestions and travel directions. The room's A/C had an annoying quirk: it was motion activated. As long as people were moving in the room, it worked. When no one moved, it shut off. This meant waking up to a hot room several times in the middle of the night. Waving an arm around made it switch on immediately, but then it would switch back off after 1/2 hour or so. Very annoying. The room rate was very good, but be aware that parking at the hotel is * per night! No big deal if you fly in, but we drove in from northern Nevada. Across the street, the parking was "only" $* per night. No real options here; just plan for it. Meals at the hotel are comically expensive, but great restaurants are just a few minutes walk away. Location for sightseeing is very good, cable cars and buses are a few blocks away. Overall a very nice hotel, but the A/C issue would keep me from staying here in warm weather.

Really comfortable room, good size too, especially for San Francisco. There was a Starbucks in the lobby which I love.

For the price we paid, everything was very nice, location is perfect. Where I felt they get you is if you need to park your car there. Very EXPENSIVE. If you can get over the price of the parking, then you will like this hotel.
