The Hotel Sax is kind of a different stay in Chicago, a place more orientated towards showmanship than just a regular 4 star hotel might be. And why not, their location places you near some of the best places to eat and drink in Chicago, to include a great club on the lobby floor. You get the feeling of the hotel from the friendliness of staff while checking in at the glass counters and the layout of the hotel reception area – and you know then that this place is going to be above an average stay.
The initial impression you get from this is that this hotel has a very elegant style – and you can bet that you initial impression is on the mark. The initial check-in might be a bit confusing – I was wondering if it was the reception counter or a jewelry store front – till I got closer and could see. The staff were a lot of help and fast in getting you checked in and off to your room even with a small line of people there.

From the moment you keycard your way into the room, you will find yourself impressed with the levels of details a hotel can take in making a room really great. You will get a good sense of that just in the hallways and how they are done in a contemporary trendy style. I liked the layout of the king superior room and how they were done with a sense of style that was not too overtly swanky – but definitely not just your basic hotel room design. That is to mean that the colors and the layout all worked well together and I really thought it made for an all around just cool look! I read a few reviews that said they thought the room reminded them of a movie because of the colors and the lighting – and would agree it does!
The king bed was very comfortable – and if you are not a fan of a very soft bed and a pillow that conforms to you for a great sleep – you might not like the beds here. This was a lot like one of those perfect sleep beds where your whole body just relaxes when you lay down on it. There was also a great view from the room looking out towards the river. The rooms also include oversized robes that are very comfortable.
I did go to the small gym – and it was ok for a short workout. You are almost right at the river – so getting to either side of it and the walking/running path is very easy. Best bet is to run towards Lake Michigan and enjoy the views of the lake front.
The hotel is in the center of some great places that surround it in the neighborhood. Next door is the House of Blues Restaurant and Concert venue, and it is surrounded by different types of very good places to eat, including Dick’s Last Resort there at the hotel itself. The Crimson Lounge night club at the hotel is a very hip type of cool – and this was the 2d time I had actually been there. It is laid out in a blend of many couches and nooks and works into a dance club. Not your average club or lounge – just one that is a cut above the rest and with a few great drinks and good clientele.

Absolutely awesome hotel, close to everything. Room looked great and the staff was awesome! I will only be staying there for all my travels in Chicago!!!

I will never stay at this hotel again they got me lost did not help me at all they were not friendly and i just will never stay again.... the hotel was beautiful but they offered nothing i was charged to park my car it was just horrible.
