The Shoreham was a great spot at a great price. Our room (one queen bed) was pretty small, but very efficient;y laid out, recently redecorated, and comfortable . A free espresso machine located in the lobby was a frequently used amenity. One downside was the lack of a comfy chair for reading, but we were in the room very little anyhow.
In the past we've stayed mostly at the Parker Meridien, and the Shoreham is not as posh, but just as convenient. We'll definitely stay there again.

I checked in and was offered a glass of champagne- off to a good start.First night was good-this hotel has much to offer. The next evening I returned to my room and thought I could smell cigarette smoke but decided it must be my imagination. At 3 oclock I woke up to a room filled with the stench of cigarette smoke. My room reeked as did my clothes, my hair ....
I was told by the front desk that I was located on a smoking optional floor!!!!!
Firstly, I thought that public smoking was prohibited in NYC and more importantly, I would have preferred being offered this information rather than a glass of wine at check in.
The front desk clerk said that the hotel was by no means full and therefore there was no reason to locate me on a smoking floor.
I received a meek verbal apology from the receptionist- no room rate reduction, no offer a free night if I returned- not even a drink at the bar"on the house" . Too bad as we frequent NY visitors have many options!!!!
Very inconsiderate guest treatment.
Wonderful place to stay

The Shoreham staff was courteous and helpful. Our room was the largest I have stayed in Manhattan - two queens and lots of space. Much Larger than the other 4 and 5 star hotels I have stayed in. The hotel was very clean and well kept. We really enjoyed our stay.

I stayed here with two friends. We were able to get there easily via train to city and subway to near the hotel. The staff was helpful during our entire stay, and the value of free internet cannot be overstated, as we had not planned out every detail of the trip beforehand. Our bathroom was extremely comfortable with jets everywhere and a jacuzzi-style tub. The bed was also an awesome feature with a surprisingly quiet room.
The only downside we encountered was an inability to get a cab to catch a broadway show on Saturday night. On a side street very few passed our hotel, and with ladies in stilettos this was a bit of a problem. A small downside to staying here instead of one of the big names, but I think the other personal features and the value of this hotel was worth it.

This hotel location was excellent!! It was walking distance to Times Square, Broadway, and Rockafellar Center. The hotel staff were very courteous and helpful. The hotel is trendy and with modern decor. The room was amazing! The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to New York City and would definitely stay here again.
