Nice But Had Some Problems

  • August 21, 2008

Overall, it was a good stay, but our bathroom had some problems. We noticed that it had an unpleasant smell from the first time we walked into it, and the smell never really went away. The first time we used the sink, brown to grayish-colored water came out, and then it cleared up after that. The facilities seemed nice, but we were only there overnight so we didn't get a good chance to check out much. Our room faced the atrium area, which we liked. The staff seemed very courteous, and the bed was very comfortable. Easy access to and from the hotel.

Nice location, No attention to detail room and hotel

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and if was not prepaid I would have left in the first few minutes. This hotel looked from the pictures to be very nice, but there was such a lack of detail to important features that travelers look for that it was amazing. The atrium area was super big, stuffy and musty smelling and the lights were so dim that we were actually scared to stay in this hotel as it felt like a ghost town. There was no bell man and we had to carry our bags up a set of stairs because the elevator would not reach the room. I had two kids and 3 huge bags to handle myself up the stairs. Second, the bed was super uncomfortable with really hard pillows. The room had new bedding and furniture, but the lamp shades were torn and raggaty looking. The tile in the bathroom was old and mildewy. If the hotel management/owners would: 1. cleanup the smelly atrium. 2. turn on the lights in the atrium. 3. put new lamps in the hotel rooms. 4. put a ramp so you don't have to carry your bags up a set of stairs. This would be a really nice hotel. 5. Update the bathroom tile/tub this would be a very nice upscale hotel that many people would love to stay at.

Check-in was very easy and the front desk was very friendly. Our room was very clean and everything we expected. The bed was more comfortable than most hotels we have stayed in the last few years. We ate dinner in the bar area on Saturday night and the service and food were both very good.

Newly Renovated

The hotel is under extensive renovation. The guest rooms were beautiful and spacious. We had originally wanted a suite but the hotel was full and there were none available. They did show us the one bedroom suite before it was rented. It is also huge, like a mini apartment. I will book that suite the next time we travel through Texas.I especially liked the King bed room with a sleeper sofa. The hotel has new carpet in the part of the garden atrium and the staff informed us of their plans for the entire hotel. We plan to return in November. I especially liked the indoor pool and was told they were remodeling the pool in the near future. All in all a great stay and I highly recommend it.

We stayed with three family members with the same last name and that resulted in all of us getting the wrong rooms. Staff was argumentative and insisted that I made the reservation that way. I finally asked about first name on the reservation and upon finding out they were wrong, did not apologize. The ordeal took 4 hours. Room was nice when we got the right one!
