This hotel is a big disappointment. There is no wireless in the rooms -- take a LAN connector, or pay $14 to rent one if you want to connect to the internet in your room.
Secondly, if you use this hotel, be sure to pack the Aleve for the neck or back aches you will get from the bed. The side panels on the box springs were falling apart, and the pillows were small and flat -- very uncomfortable indeed.
The bathroom is very small, just enough room to turn around with the door closed. And watch out for the clothes rack as you turn from the sink, or a hanger will poke your eye out! There is no closet, so they put the iron behind the TV and the ironing board is leaning against the TV cabinet. I talked to several other guests, and all of their rooms were the same way.
Don't depend on a continental breakfast, which most Clarion hotels have... this one doesn't. You'll have to pay $$ either for room service, or you'll have to travel to the top of the hotel to go to the restaurant. Either that, or walk three blocks for any food whatsoever. Don't depend on vending machines -- there aren't any -- only one pop machine on most (but not all) floors.
I stayed at this hotel for a week, and by the last night, I was stiff, tired, and fed up. I will never stay at this hotel again.

I've stayed at the Clarion 4-5 times over the past year (usually just Fri. &/or Sat. nights) and I can honestly say I've never had any problems at all. It's always clean, the staff is friendly, & the rooms are nice. It can be abit noisy on the weekends (alot of people crashing from going to the clubs, like me), but overall a perfect deal for the $ and location.

I had an awesome view, however, the room smelt musty. The bed was very very uncomfortable and the bedspread smelled unclean. The bathroom was overall clean . The rug was nasty too! I didn't like the stay at all= I couldn't wait to get home to my own bed.
Excellent Service!!

My child and I took the train to Raleigh for the experience, so we didn't have a car. This made it necessary to get a hotel close to the attractions we wanted to see. The Raleigh Clarion was exactly what we were looking for. First of all, it is round making it especially fun for my child. The location was within true walking distance of the capitol, Science Museum and History Museum. And a short cab ride to several other attractions. The restaurant was on the top floor and provided a wonderful view of the city. Dinner was good and the Sunday breakfast buffet had a descent amount of variety and was well done. The rooms were clean and well apportioned. The best part of the stay, by far, was the service provided by the staff. The front desk staff was always upbeat, extremely helpful and resourceful. The waitstaff in the restaurant were friendly, attentive and they never tired of answering the many questions about what my 8-year-old saw out the window. Housekeeping personnel always smiled and spoke when we saw them in the hallways.
The only thing that was irritating was the temperature of the elevators. Since they went straight to the ground level parking deck, the outside temperature went up through the shaft. Made the elevators almost refrigerator like. I cannot imagine how hot they would be during the heat of August! If there is a way to close the "gap" between the car and the building at the deck level, this might help. Either way, not in any way a deal breaker. The hotel was great and we would recommend it to anyone!
Old & Tired

Interestingly designed hotel in a great location, but ownership has not spent a nickel to keep it up. Everything about the hotel is worn and stained. Went through three alarm clocks trying to find one that works and gave up. Settled for one that does not work. Very noisy at night. The walls are thin and the hotel had a lot of noisy guests. And a noisy heating unit. Aside from the location, the staff is the best thing about the hotel. They could not have tried harder to be helpful. I hope that the owners are at least spending a little money on the people they employ.
This place has the potential to be a really great urban hotel, but the rooms are sorely in need of refurbishing.
