Perfect location and just a few block walked to Broadway, Time Square, Restaurants, Subway station, Pharmacies. Hotel Staff are nice and friendly, The Room is a bit small, good for 2 person and clean, the Bathroom is very clean as well, the Air-con is working really good and have a quiet neighborhood, you will feel very safe. I am very delighted that I choose Washington Jefferson Hotel. I will definitely choose this hotel on my next New York Trip.

Very good stay.

The rooms and hall ways are compact. If you are a wide load, you will not fit comfortably. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the water was hot, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Plus, the location makes it easy to get around, whether by foot, bus, or subway. Everything I had wanted from a moderately priced (by Manhattan standards) hotel. I was traveling by myself, so the room had ample space for me. Two people, and the room would be cozy. Two people who intend to spend considerable time in the room will probably find it confining. But if you are going to New York for the hotel experience, you probably shouldn't be looking in this price range. If you are looking for a place to sleep, shower and shave between New York experiences, I recommend this hotel highly.

Perfect Location, Friendly Hotel

This was the second time I've stayed at the WJ. I had the exact same room both times, 2nd floor, facing the street. The rooms are small, but beautifully appointed with white duvet covers and pillows. There's a great flat screen TV on the wall and adequate closet space. The only complaints I would register are these: the mattress is very hard and if you sleep on your side as I do, you may wake up quite sore. There is very little "give" in the mattress. Also, the lighting in the bathroom is extremely dim, so if you need to put on makeup, you may have difficulty. I may have looked clownish when I finally emerged into the bright daylight of the street. The greatest plus of this place is its location, between 8th and 9th Avenues, just a short walk from Broadway, Times Square and all the major theaters. It's the perfect location for you if you like to walk around midtown, but also close to two subway lines. I will probably stay there again the next time I'm in New York.

Small but Great!

There are lots of things I could say in this review that would have made me think "hhmm... no, I'll find a different hotel" if I'd been reading my own review while planning my last trip but then I would have missed out on a great hotel! The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room and bathroom were small but the room is well laid out to fit everything you need. I took more luggage with me this time than I normally would to NY (a large suitcase and two carry-ons), with just me in the room it wasn't a problem but if there'd been another person with an equal amount of luggage I can see how it would have been a frustrating fit; When you're packing just keep in mind to pack smartly (something I should have done a better job of anyway). Carry-on sized luggage will fit under the bed but large luggage won't (but they will hold it for you in their luggage room). They had cable TV and free WiFi in the rooms. The location is great, you've got no less than 7 places to get food (most of which deliver) within HALF A BLOCK in either direction (and easily 15 places within one block either direction) so if you've had a long day and you want to order in and relax or pick up something on your way back to the hotel it's easy to do. The Hotel is only a few blocks (about 2.5) from the nearest subway stop and there's another about 3 blocks away for different lines. This was the best trip I've had and the best hotel I've stayed at! If you're traveling alone or with someone you don't mind being in close quarters with this hotel is the place!

Great Location, Small Room, Comfortable and Friendly, Helpful Staff

My elderly mother and I stayed here four nights in early February, and would highly recommend this hotel, particularly to female travelers. We felt safe, yet in the heart of the theater/shopping and tourist areas. The room was tiny, but very clean, with comfy bed and spa-like bathroom with granite walls. Nearby restaurants provided tasty fare. Overall a positive experience.
