One should at least expect an elevator at a hotel franchised as a Howard Johnson. Not only does this place not have one. But also has inadequate accommodation for the disabled, or anyone with any minor disability. My relative was expected to walk three flights of stairs with a walker. According to the travel website agent, this was the only hotel in the vicinity with handicap options. I walked through the hallways, it felt hot and humid as there was no AC, except for wall units. This place looks old with dirty carpets. As you walk thru the hall you can hear and feel the floor as it creaks. If you stop by this place look for room 312, which is at the end of the hallway to the left next to the storage area; this place did not just look dirty but gave us the creeps. The person at the front desk was not only obnoxious, also acted as if we were bothering, and was doing us a favor. The funniest thing is that when they said they had no more rooms on the first floor, the person from travel website called the front desk and asked to involve the manager to get us a refund; while the manager was being called (there was not one present in the building) the agent looked for other hotels. The agent attempted to call the hotel back around 10 times, conveniently, the desk phone stopped ringing as if it had been disconnected. The agent kept on trying to call the person at the front desk who said, "look it is not ringing" as if the phone was fine, but used their personal cell, to call the manager. They said they could not rent the room and refunded only half which is a lie.

HEATH DEPARTMENT SHOULD VISIT HERE, NOT YOU!

My family and I returned home from a 1 night stay at the above listed Hojo location and I felt it absolutely necessary to review this on here where I booked it to save people the frustration. The coffee pot in the room had old coffee in it and no coffee supplies with it. The soda machine and vending machine were completely empty and out of order. I didn't have any real issues with the room except for the overall fact that it was not up to par with a 2 star hotel. I would expect to pay half of what we did. The worst part of the stay was the free breakfast. My daughter poured a glass of apple juice out of the automated machine and when she went to take a drink there was a brownish film that had dropped into the cup, obviously from the dispensing knob not being cleaned. The styrofome cups had a brown residue inside all of them as if something had been spilt on them and then dried. All of the plastic cutlery was filthy. The waffle batter looked disgusting in the prepared cups, as if the batter had been recycled day after day and the pastries provided were sour and smelly. I believe the healh department should make a visit to this establishment. It is a run down, old, smelly building that should be used for homeless people maybe, but not used to steal families hard earned money, ultimately ruining their vacations or trips.

Do Not Stay Here

What a dump. I checked in my room. Upon entering I was taken back by the stench. It smelled so bad. So I folded down the bed sheets to check it out and there was human hair in the bed. Not just a piece but quite a few pieces. It was nasty. So all of a sudden I started getting hives and had trouble breating well come to find out they allow cats. I have a horrible allegry and that explained the smell. So they let me switch room since I almost died from my allergy and there was the issue with someones hair in my bed. So I entered the second room. First I had to take out the trash of the person that stayed before me. Then I looked at that bed. Um this bed had a new surprise in the covers there was crust. I was just sick at this point. I packed my stuff and looked under the bed to make sure I was not forgetting anything. Well under the bed there were (2) 1" dead cockroaches. Hello has anyone there heard of a vaccum?? I know that floor had not seen one in a long time from the dirt and crumbs that were between the nightstand and the bed. Also there was I don't know maybe puke running down the nightstand that had by the time I got there hard and dried on. In both rooms the comforter was ripped and shredded and I am sure never washed and it look as though it was from the 60's. So that is a long time to never wash a dirty bed. My advice run as fast as you can away from there unless you want a disease. I am not exaggerating in the least bit.

Bad Stay, Overrated

When I see 2 stars for this hotel/motel, it confounds me. It was a very dark and unclean place to stay. It's fee per night was double what it should have been. When you are in a dark and unclean place, you do not feel safe. I had made the mistake of confirming 7 nights by internet (won't do that again) and they would not let me out of the charge. The people that managed it had very poor management skills...they seemed to live at the hotel/motel, so....make of that what you will. I do not recommend it!
