Great Value for San Fran

I recently stayed at the Marina Inn and was impressed by the value. The rooms were nice and clean, although a little on the small side. I am giving it a 5 smiley based on the location and value. The staff were also very professional and there was a modest continental breakfast free of charge. If you are looking for a deal in the city the Marina is a good choice.
No bed bugs for me

Let me start by saying I was horrified when I read these reviews after booking the Marina Inn. However upon arriving and being treated with the utmost courtesy by the staff I went up to my room and was pleasantly surprised. I did a thorough check and found no bed bugs. I ended up having a very nice stay at a really great deal. I would come back any time for $ a night!
WARNING-BED BUGS - STAY CLEAR

The area is nice and close to attractions. The staff was very accomodating especially when we complained what looked like bedbugs on the sheets. They tried to assure us that not all rooms were infested. The room itself was your basic room but we did not give the hotel a chance to find us another room. The thought of bugs crawling on our skins at night was a deal-breaker. We had a good time on our vacation despite having to find lodging at the last minute. The staff was great but it does not make up for the bugs and lack of amenities in the room.
***DO NOT STAY HERE*** ROOMS ARE INFESTED WITH BED BUGS!!!

We arrived Feb. 28th, 2009 and checked into the hotel in the late afternoon. After spending just a few hours in the room we discovered bugs crawling in the sheets and on the mattress. They were unquestionably BED BUGS - blood sucking parasites that live in the mattress and feed off of human blood. Besides getting itchy, painful bites, the bigger problem with bed bugs is that they are easily transported home in your clothes and luggage. Once your home is infested it is extremely difficult to get rid of them. Often you must throw away your mattress and any other porrous furniture and endure several visits from an exterminator to get rid of them. Reddish/Brown stains on the sides of the mattress and box springs indicated a long, ongoing infestation problem. Don't risk staying at this infested hotel and bringing these pests home with you! Besides the bugs the rooms were dirty, tiny, noisy, and have no air conditioning. There is also no parking and virtually no available street parking unless you go 5-6 blocks away from the hotel. We checked out as soon as we spotted the bugs, lucky that we never actually slept there! We ended up trudging through the streets of San Francisco with all our luggage at midnight until we finally were able to hail a cab to our new hotel. Avoid this hotel like the plague!
If you drive, don't stay here!!!

I drove for 9 hours and arrived at this hotel at 1am only to discover they have no parking lot. There is no street parking to be found. Had to park at an overnight parking structure 5 blocks away and walk down the street with all of my luggage. on line travel website would not change my reservation for that night because it was so late, unless I paid a more than * dollar penalty, so I was forced to stay there; buyers beware! The front desk clerk was not there when I arrived. I was standing on the sidewalk in the cold, vulnerable with all my luggage, because they lock their front door at night. It was 2am now and I was nervous. Since nobody was answering the doorbell I used my cell phone. The clerk answered and apologized then let us in. The place is old and dirty. The room was small and the view was of a busy street, without charm. The TV was the smallest I'd ever seen in a hotel. The blinds made me feel less than totally private, were difficult to use, dirty, and starting to look haggard. In fact the whole room looked that way. The furniture was old and very scratched, or maybe they would say it was rustic? There was no coffee in the room. There was a lot of debris under the bed. The shower was pitiful. I'm 5 feet nine inches. The shower head was at my neck and the water pressure was poor. The plumbing was noisy. The stairway creaked. I felt like I was in another country, the standards were so low. I would never stay there again.
