had to stay elsewhere

Our check-in went smoothly. The lobby and breakfast area are nice. The lobby and halls smelled clean. The security door at the side of the buliding was duct-taped so that it opened w/o the key card...not safe. Lots of luggage trolleys. Vanity was marble, bathroom was nice and clean. However, the bed spreads were very old and worn. We walked into our room and smelled an awful musty almost sour smell. The wallpaper was falling off 2 of the 4 walls. There was black mold behind the gaping paper on the window wall, the border was hanging down several feet along the wall above the beds. It was clearly major water damage. We asked to move to a different room and the gal at the front desk was very helpful. She appologized and gave us a room up one floor and over one room from the first. The smell was better in the 2nd room, the paper was sagging on the window wall but the rest of the walls were fine. Still, there was mold visible in the wall paper seams. I couldn't stay there with my 4yr old and 10mo. old, didn't think it was safe for them. Maybe some rooms have been redone, it appears the bathrooms and TVs are new. I'd expect the severe water damage to be a bigger priority, it can't be safe to stay in the damaged rooms! All carpet (in rooms, halls and lobby on floors 1 & 2) looked pretty un-clean. Front desk gal was helpful when we chose to stay in a different hotel. This hotel is not up to par. I almost always choose Country Inn and Suites and was really surprised at the state of this hotel. Not worth the price they are asking...nowhere near the right price.

very pleasant

Looked good at first. Jacuzzi room - awoken twice by adjacent room plumbing running through jacuzzi with loud gurgling sound. Changed rooms next day. When a/c not running & fan only, this non-smoking room smelled of stale cigarettes, very stuffy & nasty. Shower heads barely let out any water. Night staff rude to the point of obnoxious.
