Classic Hotel, Great Visit

This was our 3rd stay at the Waldorf and once again it was an extremely positive experience. The room was very clean and well maintained with rich, classic furnishings, the bedding was extremely comfortable with exceptional linens, and the temperature of room easy to control and working well. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location of hotel is within walking distance to Central Park, midtown area, Rockefeller Plaza, along with great shopping and dining. One word of advice...make sure you bring along a copy of your Travelocity confirmation to assist in checking in. We had "room assigned at check-in" accommodations for 2 adults and 2 young teens, and were given a room with 2 double beds which was what we wanted. Checkthe location of room during check-in. Our room faced another room in a short alcove, and you could hear the other door open and close, and the guests talking which was disturbing. It would be better to have an open hallway room. However, it didn't diminish the quality of our visit. We would most definitely stay at The Waldorf again.

RUN - don't Walk - AWAY from this hotel!!

I had always wanted to stay at this hotel, but I was extremely disappointed. The service was horrible, the "follow thru" was laughable, the noise level on my floor was so loud I thought the building was shaking!! My husband tried to surprise me with a bottle of wine and appetizers in the room. They were never delivered, the guest services woman said someone would call me and discuss what to do. I never received a call. Their claims of service are bogus! For the money, I would stay somewhere else in the future.

sad state

My stay was very disappointing to say the least. Paint chips falling from the ceiling, not to mention the bubbling and patched wall paper. When requesting another room I was informed it was "An old hotel" as my friend said then charge 1950's prices because that's the last time anyone cleaned the curtians.... Shame on them and shame on me for paying their outragious fee. The new owners the Blackstone Group need to regroup. Take my $785 and buy some cleaning products.

Every staff member we came in contact with was extremely friendly and helpful. Check in and check out was quick and easy. The room was large and extremely clean, with lots of character. The location of the Waldorf was excellent. It was easy to walk to many sights: Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Central Park, 5th Avenue and the Empire State Building. We will definetly stay here next time we're in New York.

Four stars rating is misleading.

Fitness facility was listed as available....no mention of extra cost, either in reviews, or front desk. Upon arrival to fitness room, I'm told there is a $* fee for use, for my entire time at the hotel. Wonderful. After the first night, I had left a note in the room for the cleaning attendant pointing out the beard of dust on the baseboards. I bet it's still there. Sheer curtains are filthy grey. In room a/c units are old and noisy. Public areas are very nice as are the restaurants. Old hotels are old hotels. The hotel is rated as four star.......way too generous for what we experienced.
