Bad and bad again

The first time we went to the Waldorf Astoria, the elevantors were out of service, we went with 4 children and going up and down with them was a nigthmare. We place a complaint and we received a complementary stay on our next trip to NYC, few months later we took they offer, we checked in and when we open the door of the room, surprise, it was occupeid by other people and there was clother all over the bed and luggage opened. What happened with the fame of this legendary hotel?

We always stay here

We always stay here when we visit New York -- about 9 to 10 times a year. Service is superb. Rooms are very nice and comfortable. Breakfast in Oscar's is very good. We have stayed in many hotels in New York over the years, but the service here is so wonderful that we now stay here exclusively.

Overall a great experience

We stayed at this hotel for the experience of it. We were not let down! Every member of the staff was courteous and helpful. We arrived before noon and while a room was not available for us to check into at that time, we were called as soon as one was available. We were able to check our bags with the bellhop in the meantime. The room itself was on the small side, but that is to be expected with older hotels. It didn't have a sitting area per se, but there was a desk and chair, plus a bench at the end of each bed. There are a few areas that I would like to see improved on. I had tucked my laptop into the corner of the closet well out of the way, but when I came back in the evening I could tell it had been moved. I am confident the housekeeping staff moved it only to vaccuum or clean, but I wish they had left it alone. Secondly, upon checking out of the hotel the bellhops gave us wrong information on where to meet the shuttle which resulted in the shuttle leaving for the airport without us. We had to take a taxi which was much more expensive. Finally, the Starbucks in the lobby of the hotel charged at least $1 more per latte than you would pay at the Starbucks one block down the street. The store in the hotel is in no way so "elegant" (as they mentioned in the hotel literature) as to warrant the higher price. Overall I was very pleased with the hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Waldorf exceeded our expectations

Our stay was nothing short of magical. Upon check-in we were asked if we wished to upgrade our room as they had suites available. After being shown a floor plan of a suite with 3 rooms - bathroom the size of a large hotel room, spacious living room, and bedroom. We decided to go for it. The upgrade included breakfast for two that we valued at $50 a person. When we opened the door to our suite we couldn't believe our eyes. We had a wonderful 5 days at the hotel. The employees treat you like royalty. Obviously, we highly recommend staying at the Waldorf.

I travel extensively for business, staying in some of the best hotels in the world, and this was easily the nicest hotel that I've ever been in. Everything is so sublimely perfect- it was a wonderful experience...
