Hotel is in disrepair

I have stayed in Days Inns before, and have never had a huge problem with any of them. But I feel compelled to review this particular location. It is in disrepair and I would not recommend it. I stayed here for 3 days, and members of my party experienced leaky ceilings dripping on them in the middle of the night and rooms that reeked of urine so bad they had to change rooms. On the less egregious side, my room had burned/bald spots worn through the carpeting, stained upholstery on the chairs, washed out color from a TV obviously past its prime and about to burn out, and a balcony door that did not open. The staff and service were fine, they just don't have much to work with. The lobby looks good, but the rooms don't reflect a similar upgrade within the last 3 decades. Peeling wallpaper, mildewed shower stalls and flickering, faulty lights await in the guest rooms. The cafe advertised as reopening in June 2007 has not, and a sign on the door says it has been closed indefinitely, so don't hold your breath for it to make a comback nearly 2 years later. The neighborhood, while conveniently adjacent to MARTA, the world congress center, acquarium and other downtown spots, is sketchy and I would not recommend walking unaccompanied at night, or even walking accompanied at night. My advice: Spend a few dollars more to stay somewhere a little more updated and comfortable.

Plesently Surprized.

I booked a room 2 nights with a online travel website after reading the not-so-great reviews of this place , i was a bit skeptical, but it was in my price range. After my 6 hour drive to the hotel from my home i was pleasantly surprised at how nice the loby and front desk looked. newly re-modled i suppose. there were only 2 clerks for the 10 floor hotel, but they were both so friendly i didnt mind waiting in the 5 person line of people. the line moved quickly and i was able to get in my room quickly. *thumbs up* i was on the 9th floor, the room was very clean and the view from the back of the building was wonderful, yes there is a parking lot below but there is also space between the buildings so you can see further out into the city scape. beautiful. its very conveniently located, only 6 min away from the place where the concert was held. i dont care for Atlanta's plight of one way streets but thanks to pre-planning and having printed MapQuest instructions to everywhere we did just fine. the Contental breakfast includes danishes of all sorts, doughnuts, english muffins, bagels, w cream cheese-jelly-or-butter, apples, bananas, cereal, and milk, orange juice and coffee. If anyone decides to stay here at the Days Inn in Downtown Atlanta i highly recommend it. its PERFECTLY priced and you'll be happy with your stay! also, there is a REALLY nice Italian/pub restaurant 2 blocks away, Max Lager's American Grill and Brewery, i walked there in the rain, its not far at all, and they serve WONDERFUL fresh brewed beer and hand tossed gourmet pizzas, its a nice place, a bit expensive (dinner for two, 50$, but The Swordfish special was delicious!

I booked this hotel to attend the SEC Championship game at the Georgia Dome. The hotel is in a great location. We walked to the dome, maybe 10 or so blocks. The parking was gated and felt safe. The only issue that we had were with the beds. They were the hardest beds I think that I have ever slept on. It almost felt like sleeping on plywood. However, it was clean and a good value for the area.

We stayed at the Days Inn Atlanta Downtown over the first weekend in April. Most things we experienced were very standard with a Days Inn hotel. Certainly nothing special from the staff or the quality of the room, but that's what we expected. This hotel is in a great location, which allowed us to walk to many of the sites in downtwon Atlanta (CNN, World of Coke, Olympic Park, Phillips Arena). We didn't use the outdoor pool because it was cooler outside, but it didn't look like a body of water I'd want to be in. But again, it provided exactly what I expected. If I'm on vacation in downtown Atlanta again, I would stay there again. It's a very good value for the money.

The distance from the aquarium, New World of Coca Cola and Centennial Park and the low price made it quite satisfactory. Room needed new carpet and chairs but it was clean and neat, the linens were fresh. The front desk at check in and the second day were rather snippy and not friendly at all. But the staff on duty the evening of the second day and on check out were very friendly. It would have been nice to know up front that they charged 15.00 per night to park at the hotel.
